I would say Liu Kang. He beat Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn. Kung Lao was almost killed by Kahn and lost to Shang Tsung.

Liu is stronger, but I like Kung Lao much better.

Hard to say since they were both taught at the same school of martial arts but since it was Liu Kang that was chosen to go to the tournament I would have to say him...but that doesn't mean that Kung Lao hasn't taken steps to improve and until we actual get a fight between the two of them we really can't tell.

In any case I still prefer Kung Lao...gotta love his hat.

Let me explain Kung Lao was killed by Goro, so therefore he is not all powerful, while Lui Kang killed the Socerer Shang Shung.

Kung Lao was never killed by Goro. You're thinking of his ancestor, the original Kung Lao.
And Liu Kang never killed Shang Tsung. Just beat him.

Liu kang is the better monk coz in a cartoon i saw of mortal kombat kung lao is killed by goro and that is how shang tsung got control of the tourament. Also liu kang is the chosen one
