Why do you think MK symbol has always been a dragon?

The first game borrowed some things from the movie "Enter the Dragon" (I think?) with Bruce Lee. The 3 fighters, and the old man at the end of the tournament are scenes and similarities of that movie. And another element borrowed was the dragon. In Enter the Dragon the dragon appears backwards, different from the current MK logo, but just look at the fighter select screen from MK1:

Actually, if I'm correct, when MK1 was first made, there were never meant to be 3 fighters that are good guys, like in the movie, the seven selectable characters were supposed to fight, maybe even among each other, and there were no 3 characters that are the "chosen ones" or whatever, am I correct? Another thing, a while ago, I remember someone waying that MK started off as a game inspired by old Hong Kong Kung-Fu Movies.
