Anyway, yes, it was from Kung Lao's fatality. Baraka "survived" the fatality and the staples were apparently a transitional thing to hold his body together. I believe this was revealed in either MK:DA's or MK:D's Krypt.

Since this is highly off topic now, I see no reason to allow this to continue.
