MK should of never gone 3-d mk4 is why.Imagine how polish and cool if they kept it 2-d and didnt sell out too new technology they think they had to changed it into 3-d because of all the other fighters are 3-d wrong. If they stayed 2-d it would be doing as good as 3-d games if not so better they should of stayed to there roots and not screwed over the older fans.

hmmmmm.........not many liked MK4. It was my favourite MKgame. I love everything about it. Iy was an old MK but in 3d. It had a huge part in the MK storyline. I loved the moves, fatalities and extra features.

But...if they stayed 2D with MK we might not be able to do some of the stuff we are looking forward to in Deception...like fully interactive backgrounds, great looking characters, etc. Selling out would be staying with 2D because they could simply save more money by doing that.
Now I like all the games...but I'll be truthful about MK4. The graphics weren't good on PS1, everything else was ok just OK. But I have a feeling a lot of people didn't like it cause they threw in too many new characters and MK4 had lost a lot of it's "star power" if you will. Thats what I think anyway.

I realy don't think MK4 was a bad game. I think it was an incomplete game. In truth, I believe that Midway wanted the Arcade version of MK4 to be exactly like Mortal Kombat Gold. Character Selection wise, graphics, finishers, and levels. Goro too. Why else is Goro's Lair in the arcade? Anyway, that's what I think. MK4 wasn't bad, it was just incomplete.

Hmm, MKG still had all the glaring problems that MK4 did. That is bad gameplay, bad motion capture, and generic movesets. The gameplay may even be worse since the new characters were pretty broken.

Also, Goro's Lair was in MK4, I believe, because Goro was in MK4.

Yeah there is some serious broken-ness in MKG. You don't even need to be an expert to figure it out. Take Kitana's fan for example... it stuns the opponent, can be used in an autocombo, and never gets disabled. So without even playing around much, you've already got an easy "infinite" (until Max Damage kicks in) combo. Fan, run-in HP,HP, Fan, run-in HP,HP Fan, run-in HP,HP, Fan... etc. At least with Sektor they thought ahead enough to limit his Teleport Punch to 3 uses per combo.

The game can still be fun though, as long as you don't care about being seriously competitive. Personally I don't mind some cheap broken action, now and then.

Oh and someone mentioned Quan-Chi's weapon steal. That move was awesome, I would love to see it return in a future game.

The only thing I really liked about MK4 was Reiko, although he didn't have much of a story he always seemed badass to me
