Your Startings in MK

Just a question I've pondered, and because I like hearing other people's stories. How is it that you were introduced into the MK world? How well did you do with it when you first were introduced to it?
The earliest I can remember playing MK was the original game at my cousin's house. My mother was one of those "It'll corrupt your brain and make you violent" types....which just made me wanna play it more. I remember practicing constantly until I got Scorpion's fatality down. (easiest one to remember) I was just lead down the path to the Dark Side from there on.....and have been kicking the asses of male gamer geeks since. *grin*

I have been playing Mortal Kombat from the beginning. I just loved the game so much and the controversy the game stirred. The game was so popular where I lived, the local 7-11 store and Video Store had the arcade machine. I used to play it all the time.
I first played MK when I was about 6 . It was MK1 for the SEGA Megadrive . I got it off my mum's friend . Her son didn't want it anymore , so I got it . First time I played it , I was hooked . I was always Raiden and I abused his Torpedo move . Go MK !!!

Long long ago this guy I hung out with forced me to play MK1 for genesis and I hated it. It looked stupid, it was really slow and hitting directions seemed to only suggest where the character should go. At the time I was interested in any kind of Sim game I could get, but not any fighters.
Later, after I got SNES, I rented MK2 and loved it. I ended up playing against that same guy in MK2 a few times, and started to learn the fatalities and stuff and showed other people some little things in it, but the gameplay itself was always kind of lacking to me.
Then, MK3 came out and it was at the local arcade and I played it huge amounts. And then UMK3 came out and I played it more. The MKT came out and I spent an entire summer playing it.

The first time i saw mk1 was at the arcades i think i read about it too in gamepro or something all i remember is seeing some guy playing raiden i rented it after awhile on snes but they took out the blood wasnt happy about that.
MK2 i played this game at the arcades to death then got the snes verison very good times.
Mk3 i wasnt intrested in it at first when i heard about it i was sick of mk at the time but finally went and played it at the mall i got really into it just like mk2 then got the psx version.
After that is when mk got huge with the movies and cartoons ect. lose total interest in it again until many years later.

after this i played in mk on AMIGA it was MK II but i dont know... i dont like it so much
I like MK I , music in MK I on AMIGA is awesome , too bad that they dont convert it to original arcade...
after MK II was MK3 in computer saloon , it was almost 10 yars ago , i stop playing MK about 8-9 years ago
then i start make my own project with MK characters in 2004-2005
I never played MKT so much , i dont have PSX or PC version
anyway i like MK1 most of them all , without retouching in graphics and so many funny colours.. or other "ueselessities"

The first I ever played it was when I was about 3 when MK1 first came out. Then when I was 5 my cousin bought it for his Super NES Istole it from him and loved it. One day I even missed a very important test in school to play it all day

I first heard about MK1 through a couple friends when it came out on the 16 bit systems. I had heard about the game vaguely otherwise, but that was when it really became apparent to me that it was going to be something big. They were going on about Raiden, Scorpion, and Goro, and how it was so much cooler than Street Fighter.
I played it on Genesis, and hated it. I thought it was pure trash and seemed unfinished at best.
Then I played it shortly thereafter at a laundry mat and hated it still because I couldn't get past the 2nd character.
Once I rented it for SNES I was hooked. I never got to play MK2 really in the arcade until after MK3 came out because of the age I was and my ability to get to arcades. I kind of forgot about MK a little bit and I was at a local video store and heard a guy playing, turned around and saw him knock Jax off the Pit II and I was like "Holy shit!" so I got MK2 as soon as it came out and was really happy with it. I never stopped playing it until MK3 came out and then I dropped it like a bad habit. I was incredibly disappointed with MK3 on SNES and Genesis though, but I was able to get to West Coast Video on a regular basis and play MK3, then UMK3 against all the local competition. That's when I officially got into MK.

(easiest one to remember) I was just lead down the path to the Dark Side from there on.....and have been kicking the asses of male gamer geeks since. *grin*

Same here. I used to be babysitted at my aunt's house when I was a kid and my cousin at the time was in his teens and me and him always played MK1 on his SNES. Then he got MK2 which was more fun. He would always beat me easily and showed me all the fatalities and secrets but it was still fun.

I think when i was about 6 or 7 my cousin took me and my brother to rent a game for the SNES at some crappy video store in S'toon. I of course rented WWF Royal Rumble, and He also picked out MK1. I watched him play it and i thought it was soo cool that they people kicked the shit outta each other and even beofre i knew what a Finishing bonus was, i was hard up to finish Test Your Might. I was hooked on MK from that day forward, til MK2 came out, til MK3 came out, ULMK3, and Trilogy, after all these came out, i went back to playing MK1 again cause i scored it off a buddy with a complete list of finishing moves and what not. And I was good at that game at that time, the best i ever did on it, was beat the whole Tournament on Very Hard, without getting Hit with Scorpion (no special strings attached just stright up Mortal Kombat style), now before i knew that Reptile was in the game, i prolly would have surprised myself if i had did Scorpions Finisher on the Pit, but i told myself to Uppercut the guy just to use a little variety. and to this day, i cant ever do that any more, mabey its cause of the different versions? i dont know and im aware that people will advocate that, so ill close by saying this, i dont give a shit whether or not you believe me, i did it.
Mk1 and Mk2...Best Mk games made for their time and age.
