i know there is a fatality thread already, but it looks like it is for actual fatality ideas

my idea is a little different...

I'd like to see the new fatalities in MK6 done using FMVs. For those who don't know what they are, the best example would the Final Fantasy games. Some of their cut scenes are done in FMV. They look EXTREMELY realistic. So much so that you couldn't make it look too much more real unless you actually shot it using real people. I think it would be cool to see fatalities done in a format providing the ultimate realism.

They'd obviously take up some space on the disc, but since the fatalities are short anyways, I doubt they'd take up too, too much.

Just an idea I thought I'd share.

It's an interesting idea that i'm sorta divided on.
It would be more realistic, and be less glitchy i guess (no more anti gravity boots for Mavado ect), but i think it would feel too seperate from the match itself.
I think it's a little too inconsistant for my liking.

I want the fatalities to be more tailored to the person you are fighting (Example would be if in MK2- Jax could have pulled off 2 of Kintaro's arms but 2 were left) and I think this would limit it. But the quality most likely be a lot better.

OK, well you're right and wrong about a few things. Yes FMVs do allow almost an almost real feel. Now, think of MK4 endings for PSX. They sucked in my opinion. However now the consoles are more powerful but it still would take a feel away from the game.

Second. It would take alot of space on the disc. Unlike the FMV endings in MK4, a charracter that does a fatality does it to all the characters, not just one. They would have to make an FMV for every fatality and make it for how many characters there are. Also, what if there are multiple fatalities, or stage fatalities. It's a little to much. Good post though.

CHiLL, the intro to MKDA is FMV. That's probably a much more familiar example to most of us than Final Fantasy.

I think I have to agree with Krackerjack, in that it wwould feel too separate from the match. Even in MKDA, I felt the fatalities didn't flow enough with the match, as it seemed like it cut to a new scene.

Also, FMVs not only take up a lot of space, but they are very expensive to make. The intro FMV to MKDA cost half a million dollars. Half a million dollars for a three and a half minute movie. Say each fatality in MK6 takes 15 seconds. If there are two fatalities per character and twenty characters, that's ten minutes of fatalities, and if that costs about the same per minute is the MKDA FMV, that's about $1.5 million. And I'm sure MK6 will have more than twenty characters. That money would be better directed toward gameplay. Besides, I'd rather have FMV endings than FMV fatalities.

I like the idea of FMV fatalites. To me it would add a layer to the game rather having the player model do it. Also I think will be like watching a mini movie of sort. :.l

I still would rather see fatalities that seem a little different everytime. I have some ideas for fatalities I am typing up that would be different for different characters.

i'd say out of all of the replies that Potent_Seed had the best point with them having to do a FMV fatality like 20 times (or however many characters there will be) for each character.... i never even thought of that.. but i'd still love to see them ;)
