Kitana vs. Mileena easily.

Two characters who really are two sides of the same coin. Their rivalry is more complex than a simple "evil clone hates good original." You can kind of feel bad for Mileena and understand why she hates Kitana so much. And Kitana doesn't blindly hate Mileena and has tried to help her. It's not just about one wanting to kill the other either. Mileena has actually risked her life to get a fair fight with Kitana.
I could go on about this.

Easily the best rivalry in Mortal Kombat, IMO.

I liked the Mileena/Kitana rivalry. I also like Liu Kang/Shang Tsung. That one is a long running rivalry that has taken an intersting twist. Liu Kang getting his neck snapped by Shang Tsung. Now a zombie Liu Kang is out for revenge. But My personal favorite is Scorpion/Quan Chi. Quan Chi had Scorpions family killed, and is responsible for Scorpions inital death. Scorpion has been manipulated by Quan Chi until Scorpion learns the truth. Now Quan Chi is trying everything he can to keep Scorpion at bay. Quan Chi has had his scheme back fire after Scorpion was destroyed in MKDA, only to have Scorpion return again this time as the champion of the elder gods. Quan Chi made Has made plenty of enemies, but none dangeroius as Scorpion. Scorpion, once the victim is now the hunter. Quan Chi, once the manipulator is now the hunted. Quan Chi has always been one step ahead of Scorpion, but Scorpion just won't give up. Best rivalry in Mortal Kombat in my opinion.

Anyways I'm wondering what rivalries yall like best cuz I plan on some time in the future (probably not till next month at the soonest) I'm gonna make tribute vids to each of the best rivalries in MK history.

Anyways another rivalry that seems to have formed is Kung Lao vs. Baraka. Well atleast they fight in MKSM (well not Baraka, but a Takarta) and MKA intro's. hmmmm.....

Well hey I do got a question... Any great rivalry includeing Reptile? Seems like his first rival was Kitana I believe..... Though that didn't really stick....

I'm surprised that there was no mentioning of Raiden vs Shinnok yet. Surely that's a historic one.

I think the best rivalry in the MK universe is Kitana and Sindel's rivalry with Shao Kahn. It seems central to the plot of MK.

Kitana and Mileena is great, and the whole Red/Black Dragon feud is interesting (usually). Jade and Tanya's hated of each other could also have promise if given a decent back-story.

Surprised no one has said Jade vs. Tanya, which I think is awesome. I also like Dairou vs. Darrius, Sonya vs. Kano and (of course) Sheeva vs. Motaro.

Dairou and Darrius have a rivalry? They are allies from what I remember. Now Darrius vs. Hotaru and Hotaru vs. Havik are a couple rivalries that were made with MKD.

Kitana vs. Mileena definitely, for reasons stated.

I'm hoping Mavado vs. Kabal is well-developed in the future.

Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero may seem like a top candidate but it was only really good in MK1 and that's it.

Best Rivalries in MK

1st - Kitana V/S Mileena
Mostly because they were my first fav characters and the reason I got hooked on MK. Their storyline is unique and thoroughly developed. They are among the most important and popular characters of the Mortal Kombat legacy.

2nd - Liu Kang V/S Shang Tsung
That is the typical ultimate good guy versus ultimate bad guy rivalry, but it was blended well in the story, not to mention Shang Tsung is an icon of video games and one of the "best" characters Midway created for MK.

3rd - Sonya V/S Kano
I almost put them second as they were the second rivals to come to my mind. A bad ass blonde heroine versus a criminal got something special because the good guy is usually of the same sex. What is cool is that they gave us a female character that we could all easily imagine defeat the bad guy lol.

4th - Shao Kahn V/S Onaga
Relatively a new rivalry in MK, but they got potential with that story. Everyone thought Shao Kahn was the supreme ruler and all, but few could have predicted that he was once a servant of a much bigger foe. In my opinion, this rivalry is brilliant.

5th - Kung Lao V/S Baraka
Although probably not an official rivalry, these two often fought against one another in movies and all. I really thought Kung Lao decapitated Baraka's face in two at the time of MKGold; this is when I began to realize these two were enemies and a fight to death between those two would be awesome.

Well Darrius killed Dairou's family, and is still using Dairou as a mercenary to get his own evil deeds done. Though they are not yet noted as enemies, I think that by the end of MKA what Darrius had done should be exposed, and thus a rivalry developed. Though it is not yet a rivalry, I think it will be one of the best because of the interesting back story to it.

Sonya v. Kano:

This rivalry was what got me interested in the series, and the fact that Sonya is such a kickass female doesn't hurt

Kitana v. Mileena:

All the good reasons have been listed already; they have a great backstory, and it will be sad to see it go after this game.

Tanya v. Jade:

I think their rivalry has a lot of potential, and it was my favorite in MK:D

Kang vs Tsung, they had each other bitterly. it seems like almost every game (cept mk 4 and alliance) they have had there fists at each others faces. and no doubt will we see a big confrontation now that kang has a chance at Tsung in MKA.

Ever since MK3, they've been annoying the piss out of me. Their presence burns me up sorta like Yosemite Sam when his ass is on fire.

Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung- why is because the rivalry has been going on since MK1, and it really has gone from Liu hating Shang to Liu dieing and out for revenge.
Scorpion vs. Quan Chi- This was a real great rivalry in MK4 and it was really shown how mad Scorpion can be at a person in MKDA.
