Blood Level Off

posted08/19/2007 03:22 PM (UTC)byOkay, I see alot of players do this online, and I ask them why they do it. Players tell me that it prevents lag when playing but it in fact doesn't. Why? I asked a friend of mine whom I am currently co-creating a game using the doom engine. I asked him about this and he gave me a a (i have to say very reveiling) answer.
Now my friend tells me that the engine that MK7 uses is programmed with a flaw (what else is new), that flaw is the distribution of blood in modes. Now he says that the less blood is used, the more memory it uses on an Xbox or Xbox360 (also GCN with Deception). The game uses memory just doing what is was progamed to do, distribute blood with each attack, running smooth, but when you turn off the blood, an extra (lets call it application [I don't remember the term he used]) that tells the game not to distribute blood. (an extra command needs more memory and the more hits delivered, the more it commands). Now it is not noticable until you take online, the game actually lags and runs harder than sombody with a sh*tty connection; causing failed grab attemps, very very long 33s, the inability to use sequenced moves (i.e. Telekinetic Slam and a majority of Fujin's powers), and the abilty to disconnect you of in the middle of the game (It will say connection failure even though the game ran fine a few seconds before). KAK whores love this feature and when confronted about play dumb or say that it's your connection. Now I will give the benefit of the doubt to the players on here who do it because I doubt that alot of XBL players can read a computer program.
Now before you answer with a "Bulls--t" or "What would you punks know". I will answer with the fact that CREATING A WHOLE NEW VIDEOGAME IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT READ COMPUTER CODE. For the record I can't read it, I just designed the enemies and guns for our game, he does the progaming.

Just leave it off. Unless you don't want to play the players from these forums.

I rarely turn it off. But I have noticed fewer discos if I leave it off.

I've always believed leaving it off makes the game more playable. This however could be a misconception on my part.
I can read codes. So here's how I see it.
If you turn off blood, the condition for blood SHOULD not be preloaded at the start of each match therefore saving more memory and less information transmitted down the cable. That's how I would have programmed it, instead of using another app to manage blood distribution when it shouldn't be there at all. I would think having that app there is an inefficient technique of utilizing memory space.

Trax
great input trax
let me just say honestly that leaving it on or off doesnt effect lag, its the same for both.
its just distracting to look at while juggling or doing air combos. distracting period. thats not lag, thats your own fault for letting it distract you. you look at it, and take your eyes off the spot you had them. plus it comes out all slow and nasty looking online with lag.

That's how they originally programed it, but like i said it is a flaw.

When it comes out slow and nasty that means it's dripping off the body. And turning it off does cause the program to screw up.
causes it screw up? or run differently?
big difference there.
like i said, if anything juggling online with blood on is harder then it is without. and in my honest opinion, leaving it on or off doesnt effect lag either way, it may RUN DIFFERENT, but has nothing to do with lag.

That's hardly a big flaw ermac. There's a lot more important ones pertaining to gameplay that need fixing first before blood.
Anyway, I agree with both trax and check it really doesn't matter THAT much if you ask me. I mean I've played with no blood, low blood, medium and max and seems the same to me.
Personally, I'm too focused on the match to get distracted by blood so I do find that interesting on Check's part.
In MK:DA there was a ton of blood lol, the most out of the 3D's easily just look at the ground after a round...wow lol

I turn off blood simply because I do not like fatalities in this game. Also, for those pullers, it gives them just a little bit less time to pull. I think it helps reduce lag by about 3%. Those are my reasons. Btw, I have given you GG's on mkac.

well to me i turn off blood cuz it DOES decrease the chance of a disconnection (mostly when u attack the opponent continuesly during the fatality time)
and to avoid those annoying ass fatalities they suck

Exactly. With how buggy the server is, when I watch people combo after a win, I shake my head and wonder if they even know that doing that can time the connection out. Then they cry saying, "You quit", when actually they killed the connection by using needless combos after their win. There's no useful need for all of that tripe if you know that it can time the connection out in some instances, especially if either you or your opponent don't have a solid connection.
It makes me wonder sometimes if such people, who play the game often enough really understand the flaws of it.

Yeah, I agree with you, when people use combos after they beat is very unecessary, and recently i played with people who turn the blood off, and it was pretty laggy, but then i played pighut and it was fine. I thought that was pretty strange. So i asked my friend (let's call him Zapinz) about this. He said that it is possible that the flaw is only recognizable on early Xbox systems and 360s; OR it is possible that they can take advantage of the flaw and minipulate it through software or a simple method (i.e. Bridging or standbying).
