Anyone else notice a lack of scarring in Sub-Zero's appearance? Either it's a problem to be fixed or it's the original Subby. I'm hoping for the original Sub-Zero. He is dark and more attune with Batman then the second Sub I beleive.

Sub-Zero's scar was healed or otherwise missing in his Deception costumes. Classic Sub-Zero is Noob Saibot and should stay that way.

the sub-zero from MK1 and MK2 eventually became Noob Saibot and the one the was introduced in MK3 was his younger brother.the ones in deadly alliance and deception had the scar but i think it was in his alt. costume.

Actually, the original Sub-Zero was only in MK1. In MK2 it was already his younger brother. In MK3 he dropped the mask and got a Scar.

Yeah, Subzero killed Scorpion, Scorpion returned from the grave and killed Subzero at the end of the first tournament (explained by Raiden to Johnny Cage).
The 2nd Subzero entered the MK2 tournament in order to finish the job the first failed to accomplish (assassinate Shang Tsung). During the tournament, the 2nd Subzero spared the life of one of his opponents, which tipped Scorpion--who had intentins of killing SZ again--that it wasn't the same guy, and spared his life, and for a time became the second Sub-Zero's guardian.

Well, just to add fuel to the fire, the Sub-Zero in the teaser looks VERY much like he's wearing his outfit from Shaolin Monks, which we know to be the "really-uncanon" prequel to MK2. ...

It's not exactly the Shaolin Monks outfit. The MKSM outfit had giant shoulder pads, different kneepads, none of those decorative dragon patterns, and other such minor details.

They are similar in one very important way, though: Both the MKvsDC Sub-Zero and the MKSM Sub-Zero look symmetrical, and generic. No Dragon Medallion, no scar, no cool Shredder armor, just a boring blue ninja outfit. Poor guy doesn't even have a neat belt buckle.

I bet Scorpion got a belt buckle. Probably looks like a skull.

I think what he was trying to say is "Colonel Mustard, in the study, with the lead pipe."

A costume can't be used as the only piece of proof of whether or not something is canon. You need more evidence than that.

For example: Subbie's scar is gone in Deception but he has the scar back in his primary costume in Armageddon (because it was ripped straight from Deadly Alliance, the same way Reptile's primary was taken from MKSM)

Does that mean that, in canon, his scar healed then mysteriously returned? Somehow, I doubt it.

And regardless, no one here wants to get into yet another long winded argument about whether or not Shaolin Monks is canon. Some believe it is, others believe it's not. Nobody's mind will be changed today, no matter what either side says, so let's all just leave it at that.

Sub-Zero clearly has his scar in the trailer. You can see it everytime Batman punches him.

I dunno, chief. There's kind of a spot under his eye, but it looks more like light reflecting off his cheek to me.

I also want to state that nitpicking of this level is such an epic waste of time I can't believe I'm doing it. Seriously, why don't we just wait for some decent renders to be released?

C'mon, you know you like it. grin

Is it just me, or does Sub-Zero look about as interested in this fight as I am watching the weather channel? Only Sub-Zero can take a hit to the face and not even grimace...

That's the good Sub-Zero, remember that Boon said he's Batty's counterpart?

Anyone noticing the designs on The Batman's shoulder and arms? Like armor of some sort? Maybe it's a clue as to what the alt costume will look like? Like the Michael Keaton/Christian Bale Batman armor?

What about the George Clooney bat-nipples suit? ... no takers? C'mon, his "anti-freeze" suit would practically guarantee a victory over Sub-Zero.... maybe.

Well, it's a variant, at least. Didn't the MKSM one have mesh in the mask?
