Could Subzero have been corrupted by the medallion?

I've had this bad feeling for a while that Subzero might be undergoing an alignment change for MKD. No evidence or anything, it just seems like that would go with the overhaul.

So perhaps the Medallion is altering Subzero spiritually as well as physically. Maybe the reason the Lin Kuei was an evil establishment in the first place was due to fact that the medallion's power was of evil origin, and corrupted the foundation of the clan. Now Subzero's will has been decayed by it's effects, and has surrendered his mind and soul to darkness.

And maybe THAT'S why Smoke is returning. Smoke wants to do everything he can to save his best friend's soul, the same way Subzero saved him from being a mindless cyborg. Although I don't like the idea of Sub becoming evil, I wouldn't mind as long I know this is the way it's going to be done.

But I'm pretty sure he won't be evil for this game. It's just a bad feeling.

That would bring a new freshness to the decaying storyline for him.

Smoke could come in and try and reason with him and tell him to destroy the medallion because it's not needed to be the Grand Master. Sub sees this in the wrong light and forces his former friend to leave or be killed. Scorpion also feels the change of the once kind hearted Subzero. He confronts him also to tell him his soul is becoming impure and unless he wants to end up like his brother, he must destroy the medallion.

Just a few thoughts for now.

sean_raleigh: I neglected to think of Scorpion's response. Without any doubt, Scorpion would take action if he felt the Subzero which he spared from death was turning against his kind nature. It'd be nice to see, since the Scorp/sub relationship kinda disappeared after MK4. Tgrant had a good idea about a Scorp and Sub alliance as well.

personally, i think sub is workin for the dragon king.

i think that the dragon amulet once belonged to(or was affiliated with) the dragon king.
it slowly increased subs powers..and once the dragon king was reborn, the amulet was "reactivated" and sub is now under the control of the dk..which could explain his new look (the helmet and all that)

Well Deception means misleading. So I guess everyone changes sides in this game including Sub-Zero.

I just don't see Sub-Zero as the deception. I think his plot has been developing just nicely. They've been building him up into a Liu Kang replacement. With in another game, he'll be the good guy; why waste that?

Sub-Zero is a marketable name; my dad knows who Sub-Zero is. He's the type of character you can base a series around. I'm sorry, Kung Lao is not a suitable Liu Kang replacement. Kung Lao is a buddy character, and needs to stay that way.

I like the idea of the dragon medallion being from the Dragon King, however, I'd like to see Sub-Zero fight the power, and break the Dragon King with his strong spirit, thus becoming the new Mortal Kombat champion/hero.

Not bad.

Maybe the deception is Smoke.

Not even Raiden and the Elder gods forseen this.

After collecting his thoughts in seclusion. Smoke feared for his friend Subzero. Out to confront Subzero about the Dragon medallion, Smoke felt the power of the medallion and turns on him, rips the medallion from Subzeros neck and calls upon the power himself. Subzero startled at Smokes actions, tells Smoke he will not fight and that the power of the medallion will destroy him. Little did Subzero know is that at this point the Dragon King had taken full control of Smoke and in the distance the full Dragon king army was massing for annihilation of the clan.

Wow. So Sub could be evil. Li Mei's outfit resembles Sub's outfit a little by the helmet.Temp and Scorpio you guys are probably right. I would of never guessed Subbie turning evil. It would be awesome if you guys are right.

Subzero feeling strangely differnt now that the medallion is not in his possesion. Realizes that it is an evil incanation from the Dragon King. Fearing able to do nothing, Subzero tells the clan to disperse and meet at a secret location while he trys to find Scorpion.

Scorpion did not want to listen and could care less about the situation. He had his own goals in mind. Subzero, understood and thought as much, so as he was walking away, he told Scorpion that he knows where his younger brother was at and if he wanted to see him alive, he should not waste time with finding Quan Chi but to try and save his on kins life.
