Would you stop complaining for once!!!! I love the death traps..... they make the game a lot cooler and more interesting to play..... With the Hara-Kiri and the second fatality per character the death traps are the best addition to Mortal Kombat Deception.... Best game ever!!! Mortal fan forever tonguefuriouswow

I like them a lot and think they are a great addition to MK. I just would like for them to be a little more difficult to pull off in the future.... i find it quite annoying when I am either jabbing or being jabbed and suddenly the recipiant goes flying into his death. I think that even if a person is in the corner or near one that they should only go into the trap if hit by a pop up or really powerful attack like Raiden's 4. Anyone else agree?

I've no idea why people keep pulling out the "cheap" card.
The game is cheap. The whole point of MKD is cheapness. To not play cheap, is to play the game wrong. To lose to somebody who played "cheap", is to have lost fair and square, and to have deprived yourself of victory. If it's in the game, it's there to be used, so use it.
Ring outs are just as cheap as winning a round by ko.
Having said that, I still firmly believe ring outs have no place in Mortal Kombat.

That is strategy. In it's purest form.

I couldn't disagree with you more. Sure, the premise of the game is to win, but surely you must think skill SHOULD come into play here as well, don't you? Strategy is not sucesssul if it's not solid, that is to say, strategy is a kind of art, a well planned, and executed attack...Going for a cheap win, is nothing less than....well cheap., and poorly planned. "To not play cheap, is to play the game wrong" yle fighter.

If I believe that I have no place playing any arcade style fighter?
If you DON'T believe that you have no place playing any arcade style fighter, but that doesn't matter anyway, because most arcade fighters aren't broken to the point where you can constantly abuse one move and win every match, so they aren't so "cheap". All you can do is use the tools available to the character. If the only useful tools available to that character are "cheap", then that's how the game was designed to be played.
How is knocking sombody back to the edge of the arena with attacks to the point where you can position them in such a manner that knocking them into a deathtrap gains you a win, any less strategic, or any more "cheap", than winning by huge juggles and/or jabbing the opponent senseless before their attacks come out?
It's all strategy, it's just a different type of strategy, but that doesn't make it cheap.
That particular comment was only in reference to Mortal Kombat Deception, but in MK in general i've just realised it's true. The best way to win in UMK3 was to throw out those massive juggles, some of them were even 100 percent combos, I believe. How is using a 70 percent juggle (or so) any less "cheap" than winning because of a deathtrap? In MK games before that, you relyed on garenteed "unnatural combos" or hits to win quite a bit. how are those cheap? If it's in the game, it's there to be used, and if it wasn't intended to be used, it wouldn't be in the game.
Plus, MKD (and MK:DA for that matter) are by NO stretch of the imagination arcade style fighting games. At all.
Arcade style fighting games always have little pitfalls, but they're never that broken, therefore there really isn't a "cheap" way to win in those games. In those games there will always be moves that are super safe and/or damaging, but they don't fuck up the game to the point where you can win simply by being "cheap". Sure, you can abuse those attacks, but in doing so, you still have a pretty good chance of losing to somebody who knows a possible way around them.

I like the death traps I think they are a really great idea, they add a bit of a twist to the game and those who don't like them are just cut up because someone pushed them into it and won. Theres a simple logic to stop you falling into them. AVOID them!!! If you are skilled enough you will avoid them, and hit the other player into it first. I think thats the point in their existance, to really test your skills and to get you to avoid this obstacle.

My deal with deathtraps are..."okay...cool...a different aspect to the game...nice."
The only thing that gets me is using them straight out. It's kind of annoying. Using it as a desperation move in your final round, I can understand or even as a match ender...cool. But to win a match with two hits in two rounds and then quit on the person, thats being a dick. One other thing annoys me is that when you play a person, they beat you twice, you beat them once and they quit on you...thats like them not being able to take a loss because you'll "taint their record"...annoying...

I enjoy the concept of death traps, i think that add something extra to the MK experience, and even make it slightly more realistc (with the exception of the Yin/Yang Island Death trap which is BY FAR, in my opinion, the STUPIDEST!)
