Deception to Armageddon
How did Armageddon actually come about? At the end of Deception, Shujinko had just defeated the Dragon King, and very few warriors were still alive: Kenshi, Sub Zero, Dark Raiden, Scorpion....so how did everyone come back and have this huge battle?
Also, why was there a battle? Why were all of the warriors in this random battlefield ready to have an all out, good vs. evil war?

That's one of the many problems I have with Armageddons story. Armageddon imo was made for the sole purpose of putting everyone against each other, with no connection necessarily to Deception.
How do I know this?
John Vogel said it when he talked about Tsu Hao and how he definitly did die by the hands of Jax in Deadly Alliance, but that Armageddon was about bringing everyone back, dead or not.
Hoped that helped.

Somehow they found a way to bring everyone back to life for Armageddon. The best way to find out would be to read all the Armageddon biographies. Mortal Kombat Warehouse is a good source for biographies.
But everyone was in the pit for a final battle. They were summoned there by Blaze, for that's what he was created by Delia for: to summon everyone to the Edenian crater for one last battle, since his creator, Delia, foresaw Armageddon coming due to the kombatants becoming too powerful and too numerous.
So Argus (Delia's husband, and the Edenian protector god), came up with the idea of killing all the kombatants, and his Delia just thought to strip them of their powers. To Taven and Daegon, their sons, were put on a quest to destroy Blaze, and the first one who destroyed him, would win the quest, in a coin-toss between killing the kombatants, or just stripping them of their powers.
The kombatants were in the crater in Edenia so it would be easier to strip them of their powers or kill them (since they were all in one place), from what I understand of the canonical Armageddon storyline.

From what I understand of MKA I've found none of It to be canon. I think they just wanted to end the generation with a bang, like in MKT basicly the 2D Armageddon. So I wouldn't say any of It was canon really. Deception was most likely the last canon game of the generation. And If you notice most of the MKD Konquest starts much before MKDA. This proves it's canon, but with MKA their was really no way to distinguish it from a last minute Idea. None of the MKA characters were original with the exception of Taven and Daegon. They were all in MKD or MKDA Altrnate costumes which gives another clue that It's not canon. And by the way everyone knows that no one ever dies and stays dead in MK. Look at Scorpion,Liu Kang,Noob Saibot,Raiden. All came back as something.

You're forgetting that MKT was canon even if all the characters' appearances were not. The changes that were made to UMK3 essentially set up MK4 (Particularly Mileena and Noob Saibot's bio and endings).
For one I wish the team picked up where MKD left off. I feel like they wasted a perfectly good storyline, which even worked as a perfect trasition for bringing back every character in Armageddon. Rather than the Taven/Daegon story, having Onaga merge the realms would serve just fine in explaining how characters from the past returned. Midway just went about MKA all wrong.
Forgetting Armageddon would be the smartest idea storywise. Initially I don't think this was the plan as Midway seemed determined to explain what was going on, but after the game was released half-assed, then the bios were cut I would just forget it. All said with the way the story has progressed and now MK vs DC I wouldn't be surprised if in the future this is all just dropped and forgotten and a new and mostly unrelated storyline is created.

I really don't get how it was supposed to work. I think either A. somehow Blaze brought them all back for Armegeddon or B. Boon got lazy
either way I enjoy both games.

Why didn't they just confirm MKA as being nothing but non canon?

I don't want Armageddon to be canon... I absolutely hated the story. The first time I honestly can say I think the MK Team created a poor story. Look at the endings or crying out loud.
MK9 should pick up where Deception left off...

^^^^I agree, that was a great storyline. IS there an offical Canon list for that game? I was trying to figure out which endings were canon last night and I came up with....
Dark Raiden
Shujinko
Kenshi
Scorpion (Not his ending but his bio, I believe he stayed with the elder gods and watched, but never came down)
Kabal
Ashrah ( Noob Saibot is dead, her sword is left for Smoke to use)
Mileena
Ermac
Baraka
bo rai cho
liu kang
Noob Saibot (Dead)
Mileena (Dead)
Hotaru(Dead)
Please feel free to correct me if im wrong lol....

The Onaga fusing the realms storyline is not a bad way to better explain how a story like Armageddon could have come about. Another is that Shujinko could have killed Onaga, and then Havik could have scavenged his heart, and to cause complete chaos, raised the dead, starting with the former Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn.

Thats a good possibility but it wasnt actually Shao Kahn, it was just a clone.
Well, here's how it went down, it doesn't lead into it, more like it was already happening. after MK:D, Argus, an elder god and Taven's father, felt there were too many kombatant's, so Blaze awakened Taven, to begin a quest to kill Blaze and get the power to solve this problem. However, all the other kombatants wanted it as well, and it was originally only for Taven and Daegon (Daegon had been awakened prematurely and had turned evil). We don't know how it canonically ended due to MK8 being the greatest game ever (MK vs DC). So we'll wait til MK9. I just hope we neevr see Taven, Daegon, OR Shujinko, EVER again

Guys, guys, guys...
There's a very simple answer for how all the dead characters came back.
Shinnok was the mastermind of the whole thing. Shinnok is the ruler of Hell, he can just go around collecting all the dead characters who are in his realm like Hsu Hao, Sheeva, and Motaro, and bring them with him to the Edenian crater for the big war.

Being a Scorpion fan I would like to believe Scorpion's ending was the cannon version. Especially since Shujinko sucks so bad I can't accept the fact that he is the hero.
As for Noob Saibot, he's already dead so if killed he will just return back to the Netherealm (like Scorpion does).
Hotaru should also stay dead, he sucked so bad I hate that guy!
Personally, I think the ending should be that Scorpion defeats Onaga, and Raiden continues to be the bad guy - going to extremes to protect Earthrealm regardless of the consiquences - which leads on to MK9.
In MK9 I would also like to see Scorpion and Noob have a rivalry. But Scorpion's main mission would to take down Raiden (in doing so Quan Chi and Shang Tsung will slit from Raiden and Scorpion can kill Quan Chi.
(Assuming that the deadly alliance merged with Raiden when Onaga blew them all up).

what i want to guess is that its a metafor
a kombatant fight up to the pyramid in the end meeting blaze
and every character was bringed back to life but my guess is that no boy really dies in mortal kombat

I know this, but that itself was pretty stupid. It should have been Shao Kahn killed in the opening of Deadly Alliance. And I am a big Shao Kahn fan. It's just stupid constantly retconning stuff. Why should I care about what happens to any character if I know that the next game might completely fuck over everything I know by this point in time?
