Do you think MK:D will make the news?

MK has been notorious for its unabashed violence. MK:D will be no exception. The media has always preyed on violent video games, having run stories on Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt, Thrill Kill, and, yes, even our grand MK. I remember watching the news and seeing MKII or MK4 pop up every now and then, followed but some dry, crusty senator who's convinced that those 16-bit catridges were bringers of death to small children and that not just MK but ALL video games should be banned, burned, and wiped off the face of history. After a few yawns, I realized they'd stop showing MK footage. Still, do you think MK:D will be controversial and violent enough for the greedy media to cover? Fatality.

I sure hope so! Nothing garners sells like controversy. I'm just ticked that some big-name band is backing it this time. Get us some Rob Zombie or Metallica or, hell, even Linkin Park! Then, at least MTV would cover it a bit.

I thought it was said that no band is going to back it this time. But I remmeber when they showed coverage of MK Trilogy and then MK4 on the news. And you know what? I hope they show Deception in all its full on bloody contact. Because whatever makes Lieberman, and the media angry, makes me happy.(Especially if it makes Lieberman angry.)grin furious

I doubt it will, they've got the new GTA coming out in a few months the media will be to pressed on that then MK:D. GTA could actually put ideas in to a persons head and it does but the game isn't to blame. Its our choice to play them and its our choice wether or not to act on an idea we got from the game. Every time I see a motorcycle after playing GTA:Vice City I have an urge to steal it and go for a rampage across the city but once I realize that when I get "Wasted" i'm not just going to wake up at the hospitial ready for more rampage so better judgement gets the best of me. People who commit crimes and blame it on a video game were already prone to doing that crime in the first place. Seeing as how GTA is a much more realistic game i think it will get much more bashing from the media then any other game. I don't think that because of MK:D were going to hear on the news of someone ripping off another persons leg and beating them to death with it.

Good thinking by Midway to release Deception when the new GTA is fresh out, by then every politician on the face of the Earth is too busy complaining about GTA to pay even an ounce of attention to MK.

I hope so.
Any publicity is good publicity
It'll probably because of the hari kari (suicide) thing.
I didn't even here a peep about manhunt in Australia

I will surely make it into the new as MK:D will be plagued of violence, but i don't think it wil be a major brekthrough as it was before for many reasons, even it will be violent the game itself doesn't delivers any new kind of "gossip" media is wanting to have such as profane language or explicit nude. The game won't deliver anything new to the media to pay a lot of attention (i mean not the specialized media) as it doesn't change the focus of violence seen in other games.SuCh Is LiFe....

It probably will, even though it definately shouldn't. In my opinion, there should be no games talked about on the news, despite their violence. If a kid is stupid enough to actually try these things, he, and all other children capable of this, should be killed. When idiots like them to that kind of thing, they put the future of violent gaming in jeopardy. Well, kind of.

"They are the only education we got" said by Xander Cage aka XXX played by Van Diesel in the movie XXX on video games.

Yes we would see the mention of MKD in the news. Mostly of techtv but maybe just a comment of the return a gory game.

I would love to see this game in the news. But if it makes it into the news it will probably just be something like oh no blood in a video game all hell is breaking loose.

Well MK4 made it to the news but only because it was a sequel. Deception did look like a terror when you see the 1st and 2nd trailer so possibly . . . . Did MK5 make it to the news?

To me making a big deal over a video game is stupid. Oh sure it has blood and gore but so do movie and you dont see the news making a big deal when another gorey movie comes out. The Govt. loves to pick on video games because its against their "no fun for the youth bill"

MK 4 wasnt a sequel to Deception. It was a sequel to MK3, not UMK3, and MK Trilogy since they were just extras.

Yeah, I think that was on the MK History documentary in MKDA. Everytime I see that I can't help but give the screen the finger...

I hate it when the media or politicians or any other boring snotty old people assume that if someone plays something like GTA or Manhunt or MK, they're going to turn into Charles Manson and become anarchists.

I think Manhunt was more sick than the MK series. Theres a mission where i think you have to cut a swat team guy's head off and put it on your belt

The only way games like MK and GTA would be a danger is if the games send secret messages through the sound and music making people think they should kill people like the game.

I think it might... But theres one game coming out that's SURE to make the news.

GTA: San Andreas.

Not only is it violent like the others. But now it has a theme closer to home. Street Gangs. October is gonna be the month of 2 huge games coming out within a week apart. Can't fucking wait!

I hope so. I also think it will because of the Hari Kari fatalities and the gruesome stage fatalities for every board.

The media needs too go and talk about negative songs and leave the video games alone. Some songs talk about;kill angels, kill my wife e.t.c.I mean it's just a game, only an assclown will do whatever they see in a game, music in more of an influence than anything in this world,we don't have too frighten for deception because the media shows two planes bringing down the world trade centres but they don't want people too play violent games, what the heck is wrong with these people, that's why I only watch weather news nothing else.

I hope it does. It would be neat to watch the news with my mom and tell her that video games do some good to the world. Well, maybe.
