nah MK 2 was legendary in the history of fighting games, I can't see any MK game being thought as highly as MK 2.

Besides one is a 2D game, one is a 3D game, it's not that easy to compare them

Of course. It's the next generation og gaming. It's 3D with amazing graphics and design. Everything is detailed and the features are amazing.

confused that's not what made MK2 what it was though, it didn't need features and mini-games, MK2 had a freshness about it, the difference in characters, gameplay and animation for it's time was brilliant, graphically Deception just looks like an upgraded version Deadly Alliance, no where near the huge difference between MK1 and 2.

i agree..mk2 is the best...i dont c any other game being better.. i still play it every day..i still love it!!!

You guys are crazy!!
For me it seems like MK1 is to MKDA as MK2 is gonna be to MKD just without the major graphical boost. You know what I mean. They sped it up, added a lot more stuff(death traps,2nd fatals,kick ass characters), and it will definatly have plenty of secrets(cause we whined so much).MK4 on the other hand shouldn't even be an MK if you ask me. They went 3d way too early. The characters look like blocks...

Nothing will ever beat Mortal Kombat 2. It is the best of them all. Mabe a few years from now they might decide to make the 3D enviroment and the characters realistic. Then it will have a chance on competing with MK2. But as soon as Midway releases the Arcade Treasures 2 that has MK 1,2,3. i am going to get it for my PS2. It is strait off the arcade version, the sound is different then the genisis and SNES system. And the effects are way better.

I see where you're coming from with the new stuff but so many things were changed inbetween MK1 + MK2, there aren't that many changes in Deception, except the arenas and adding something that should've been there in the first place, 2 fatalities.

I didn't like MK4, I thought it was pretty bad, but I thought it resembles DA and Deception more than MK1 and MK2, each character's weapons had different moves and then there's the obvious part about it being 3D. (In a 3D game playing like a 2D game way)

But MK 2 is better than all 3 of them, at the time each was released MK2 had a bigger impact on the industry when it was released than the others have done.

i think its stupid how some people are saying "MK2 was a legend and no other MK game can beat it"...you haven't even played the game. Give it a chance, don't make up your mind about it just because MK2 was great.

You cant really compare the two games right now

They are 2 completely different fighting games in 2 completely different times in the fighting game industry. Its not really fair to judge the 2 games right now or at all for that matter

Yeah that is true but I think the way games are right now it is impossible to have any where near the impact that MK2 had. I mean back when it came out people were so amazed by the graphics, the number of characters, the brutal fatalities,etc. But now what can they do? Nothing that hasn't been done and seen before. So why not just add some cool extras and some minigames.

And yes I agree there should have been two fatalities per character in DA, but I guess they were rushed like always.

Someone here said that it has no chance of being better then MK2 unless they address some major gameplay issues, ok my response to this remark MK:D is not MK:DA so you have idea how this game is going to play. At E3 the videos and screens we saw 20% finished. Your saying they need to address major gameplay issues, funny how you all know so much about a game you won't even have a chance to play for months. MK:D will be way better then MK2 it may not be as big of a leap frm MK:DA to MK:D as it was from MK1 to MK2 but honestly how many of you are going play MK2 more then MK:D when it comes out. Everyone needs to wait and play the game before they decide it needs major gameplay changes

I'm going to agree with a few of the people here that it's somewhat unfair compare the two games. Me, as a rabid fan of 2D fighting games (not so much the 2D MKs as much as those made by Capcom and SNK), comparing a 2D game against a 3D game is really like comparing apples and oranges.

...But if you do compare them, aside from all the fluff that the MK Team is throwing into Deception, I feel that MK2 will still be a little better.

Don't hide behind that 20% crap, if it was only 20% complete by the time it was at E3 then Boon + Co have had their fingers cemented up their asses. A game 20% complete is no where near the standard of completion a game should be at for releasing at the biggest Games stage of the year.

I have no doubt that Deception will not have as big of an impact that MK2 had, Sales wise it won't be a problem but it's obvious in interviews that no-one has been boasting about the gameplay, only about all this fluff and gimmicks that have been introduced, so I wouldn't hold my breath for big gameplay changes.
