does anyone find the Smoke rumors to be lame?
does anyone find the Smoke rumors to be lame?
I've heard rumors to the effect of Smoke being like Blaze, except made of smoke instead of fire. Like a big cloud of smoke. This is quite possibly the lamest thing I've ever heard in an MK game.
In my opinion, Smoke should look a lot like Sub-Zero, just younger (Because he never had the amulet) and without the grandmaster robes. Smoke was a member of the Lin Keui,m and he should appear that way.
I'm hoping these rumors turn out to be false, and Smoke is either human or cyborg.

Yes, I'd prefere him to be in his human form or cyborg form.
But I have alot of faith in Midway that they can make him look really good in this smoke form, plus he probably wont be 100% smoke

i hope they make him look cool but i think it will be so stupid if he is a cloud of smoke...1st of all...how can you attack a cloud of smoke. i bet you when you hit him it will be like attacking a solid character with grey blood coming out of nowhere and it will look soooo stupid that no one is ganna want to use him or fight him. it could be like on of those things where sector explodes and there is human bones and blood, and other stupid crap. idk hopefully they make him cool.
They should not go on with Sektor's story from MKTE. It's just not right. How can a freaking robot make his own clan? I don't buy it.
MK is a fantasy game, but the story should stay believable.
I hated MK3 because it was about the invasion of Earthrealm. Well, we all know it didn't happen... or there was a huge cover-up.
I just don't want to lose that sweet "what if it's true" feeling about the realms and the tournament... OK, you can call me a freak, but this is what I think.

smoke should kinda be like cyrax's alt costume in mkda but he wears a silver mask and he wears the traditional nija costume colored part but it should be made of silver so you can see everything on it like a mirror oh yeah and a bunch of swirling smoke all around him

I would just like to know how the hell they're going to explain him being made of smoke if that rumor is true. I think it would make a little more sense if he were still part cyborg but he was trying to regain his humanity so you have pieces of his original costume on over roboticised arms and such, cables hanging from his torso with smoke all around. That just seems to make more sense to me. I can't figure out how he'd go from being a ninja turned cyborg to all of a sudden being smoke (literally).

Not anymore. Kabal and Smoke might have taken their places permanently.

I'm all for human Smoke, but since he was robotisized, that might be a little problem. I'd like the half-human half-robot look.

Lame for sure... made of smoke... yeah that couldn't happen, and if it does, I'm not even going to try and believe the story, I'll just write him off like an old Civic SiR.
He should be Cyborg, and not because I like cyborgs (I do like Sektor) but because it makes sense. I actually didn't even really want Smoke in the game, but if he's in it, they better not make him suck.

I've been following this rumor's trail closely, and from what I've gathered he won't be just a blob of smoke, he be an etheral(transparent) human shaped figure that appears to be made of smoke. Likely he'll be in the shape of a Lin Kuei warrior so we'll reconogize him as Smoke. Afterall if he was just cloud on smoke how could he punch and kick?
Think human smoke but all gray, transparent, surrounded with smoke, and somewhat featureless.
That's just my guess, based on the vague info given.

sorry for caps but..... SMOKE IS GONNA LOOK LIKE REPTILE FROM MKDA, what i mean by that is reptile became a reptile but was the stupidest idea and nobody likes REPTILE NOMORE. WELL NOBODY WILL LIKE SMOKE ANYMORE AFTER THIS MESS UP WATCH.

See, I don't want the ethereal thing. Although I do think it would be cool if he could turn to smoke for his teleport. Or for a projectile evasion, he could run through the projectile by turning to smoke and reappearing on the other side of it.
| Bajar Wrote: I agree with whoever said it would be an original idea if he was just smoke. But, don't think of him like a blob of smoke, think smoke with a human form similar to Blaze. I think that's what was intended. |
see that's what I said, but I think that would be lame. Wouldn't he just be a gray blaze palatte swap then? Why not give him a Lin Kuei costume 's similar to sub-zero's.. they could make him semi-robotic though..have his skin discolored and such.

I think some of us are making this scenario WAY too complicated. Smoke can't a be human again? He has to be a cyborg? A Smoke elemental figure would be lame? Seriously guys, we've been through some of this stuff a million times already.
In comparison to reviving the dead, conjuring souls, and generating flesh, making Smoke human again is freakin easy. Nothing Raiden and Fujin couldn't handle *wink*. From what I could tell from age-old posts, it's the people who want him to be a cyborg who proclaim that he CAN'T be human.
But whether he's human or cyborg, the smoke form is easily explained in many different ways. My guess is that he's not permanately a Smoke-elemental, but has mastered his ability to the fullest potential so he can shift into the mist form so he can fight at his fullest being. He's probably only like that during combat. Note that in many other fantasy series, a fighter being comprised completely of his own element is a sign that s/he has reached perfection, or at least the pinnacle of his power.
My other theory is that he is a cyborg after all, and his Smoke form is the closest he can achieve to retrieving some form of his humanity.
Stretch your imagination a bit. From a gamers perspective, this plot twist may seem far fetched, but from a writer's perspective, it makes sense. But let's wait to we get the real explanation.

Keep in mind that I am entering my 5th semester for a English Writing BA, so yes I can understand things outside of a gamer's perspective. But making him exactly like Smoke would be lame, or making him a cloud of smoke. It would show a complete lack of effort on the MK teams part. "Duh, his name's smoke...maybe we should make him all.....smoke?"...see it's just the cause of more plot wholes due to the Mortal Kombat teams laziness, and thoughtlessness, and one more thing for us to try to sort out. It took us what? 4 games to figure out not all endings happen?

Well, I think the concept could have potential. And I didn't mean to imply you weren't a good writer, I just one needs to look at this from a creative perspective. Cause really, we don't know why Smoke is the way he is. There might be a good explanation, and his design may look superb. The thing is, we just don't know yet. But I can calculate a lot of nice possibilities.
By the way, I wasn't directing my comments at you, but mostly at those who can't see how Smoke could be human again. I don't agree with you, but I respect your opinion because it was intelligently put.
