does anyone find the Smoke rumors to be lame?

I would accept it if they state that Smoke was able to leave his cyborg body by achieving his power's perfection and making his being out of smoke.
Heck, maybe they can write it off by saying Subbie gave the dragon medallion to Smoke to heighten his powers and do so. Besides, when Subbie had the medallion in DA, his forearms were almost pure ice. They were blue. They were semi-transparent. They were ice. If Smoke has power of...well, SMOKE, then I guess it would be okay for him to be an "etheral" being of smoke or something.

Now, while I do believe that it is possible for him to be made out of Smoke this time through, I don't agree with it for reasons stated (how to connect with him during a fight, his overall look, etc). Perhaps, if he was some sort of uber-powered secret character who can only be attacked via counters (when he solidifies to attack you), it might work. But there's still the matter of his appearance, and that's what I really don't like about the 'Smoke will be smoke' idea.
Smoke has been through a lot. Losing his humanity, losing his will, and then disappearing into the shadows, and losing all contact with the outside world (as far as we know), including his friend. It was TemporaryUserName, I think, who said he was raped in the purest sense of the word, and I agree. I believe that his appearance should reflect the changes he has gone through, for better or for worse. And I see only two possibilities, considering the 'neither human nor cyborg' statement;
1) He's become an amalgamation of the two, but in a horrible way: Something's gone very wrong, possibly the rediscovery of his soul, and now the two sides are conflicting for control. Having patches of flesh sticking out here and there, a cybernetic eye inside a human skull, etc. Something very painful and torturous to look at. I personally believe that this is what we'll see, knowing Midway's reputation for making their characters suffer (see Kabal, Reptile).
2) He's become a perfect fusion of the two. This body has adapted to the cybernetic changes and vice versa, and over time, he has changed physically to a state that is no longer recognizable as human or cyber-ninja. He could have smooth gray skin, no mouth, a completely new outfit (these are just speculation, bear with me), and aims and goals. Whether those are benign or malignant remains to be seen, but we've been overlooking the possibility that he may have come to some kind of peace with himself.
I would like to see him come to some kind of happiness, but that's what endings are for (if he gets a good one). I personally strongly believe we'll see the first.

The physical/spiritual conflicting with Smokes appearance is pretty sweet. I think they would emphasize his character at the very least.
And yeah, I think I said that in Mister_Satan's thread(character chat).
Hopefully what ever Midways done with him we'll still recongize him and like his new appearence/powers. We got to remeber him being made of smoke is a rumor at this point and the MK design has said they want to preserve the classic appeal of the old-school characters while adding new twists. Hopefully this is true wih Smoke and their not just trying to carve a "new" character out of an old name.
For now I'm going to give Midway the benfit of the doubt and hope they know what their doing with this highly contrevesial move if its true.

That would be tooo cool! Reminds me of the twins from "The Matrix: Reloaded"!
Just to add my own two cents, I don't care how Smoke looks - human, cyborg or anywhere in between. So long as he's got a unique moveset that's different than Scorpion's.

^^Agreed. If either he or Noob toss a spear, I'll be very, very cross.
DA, though, had unique signature moves for each character, so I'm supposing they'll keep it that way for Deception.

I think it would be cool if he was a cloud of smoke in the shame of a Ninja, not a human like blaze
Like the frame of Noob Saibot, just made of smoke.

That's what I'm hoping for to. If he looked EXACTLY like Blaze, but gray, he wouldn't be Smoke anymore, just some smoke elemental

Maybe he is human/ cyborg/ half human half cyborg, but the smoke is so intense you cant see him through it. There would be something solid in the middle but on the outside smoke would encompass his whole bode giving the impression he was made out of smoke??

I want a Ninja Smoke with smoke coming out of the mouth and the eyes are like glass balls with smoke inside...just Imo, I don't want a cloud of smoke, even if it's realistic...and no...not a cyborg...I hate cyborgs...
