Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has played/know enough about MKDA to tell me more about evasion/escape techniques. I'm sure a lot of people have gotten to the point where the game is all turtle with the opponent and retaliate with bigger combo and while that's fun, but I know it's not a way 3d fighters are usually played.

The only manuevers I can think of off the top of my head to evade is the quick evade right when you are about to get hit. Are there any other similar manuevers to quickly move around the arena, escape out of combos or escape out of walls?

Edit: Also of course all the SM in each stance, forgot to include that.

I usually just dodge to the left or right to avoid attacks.. sometimes I use the backwards dash followed by a special move to catch opponents that are trying to combo. Also characters with backflips are useful for getting that extra bit of distance in style.

Hmm... backdashes, forgot about that. So there really are no ways to break/disturb combo chains, ways to escape juggles or corners?

Well.....first. If you get caught in a juggle, you're gonna have to ride it out until either it's completed or the person doing it on you makes a makes a mistake while in the procces of it.

Corners are the same deal, but have the most danger attatched to them. Someone does a deep jump kick and then here comes the pain of one of Nitara's high damage combos! sad You'd want to develop the habit of immediatly working yourself out of the corner/barriers and/or around and away from your opponent. Since the environment is circular (in most stages), you can sidestep your way around an attack along the edge of a barrier long enough to get yourself into open ground if your not experience in close quarter combat off the barriers and/or if your life is low.

Now you can't really do anything about regular combos (The one's given in the game). With a some of the most 'pimp' combos that konqrr, Versatile, myself and others come up with, all you can do is do you best not to get hit with them. *laughing* I mean you've seen konqrr's mov's (I'm assuming that you have) . There's not that much room for error when tryin to stay out of reach from them; especially the long ones that take huge damage.

One tip is not staying in your weapon stance too long, cause you'll take more damage. Evasion, counters, and....studing how combos start and end (Practicing on Max diffculty while letting the CPU perform combos on you can help. Just block everything that comes your way and learn.) will keep you in the match.

C'est tout!

Prevention is better than cure :). All the Mortal Kombat games (and all good fighting games) are about not letting someone get to you if you can help it because once they do, you can be screwed :). Don't let yourself get backed into a corner. This can be hard for defensive players but it's essential. Also, if someone starts a combo on you and you're in your weapon stance then switch immediately to limit the damage being done. The real trick is to let your opponent think that they're gonna hit you as they start one of the strings and then pummel them while they're facing the wrong way. Easier said than done but worth the practice for sure.

Evasion techniques? Hmm.

1.) You can tech off of walls on a wall hit.

2.) If you don't tech roll or buffer the block, some oki type combos can be performed. On a personal rant, this pisses me off. I hate how you can block the instance you touch ground.

3.) SS, yada yada.

4.) If an auto-crap combo is in the process of being blocked there are interuption points where an attack can be slipped in.

Hope this helps, any Q's just ask. I know I can't be clear on thing at times. grin
