Hmm...someone who can upstage Cervantes...lemme think here...

I'd like to have a pirate whose not completely wreckless looking (eg: half-drunk, hasn't shaved, etc.) and they would proclaim themselves as "king." Yeah, I'd like to see that kind of pirate. Someone who is refined and takes everything seriously.

Sorry, I hadn't read your female Noob thread - maybe they could implement a male and female pirate - deadliest of enemies (isn't everyone in MK) that have had conflict on the high seas for years, battles and one vs one fights and such, they could have a well detailed story - maybe one could have the parrot and one the monkey! And maybe one could be a privateer sent to catch the pirate? (maybe thats too much like Kano/Sonya.) Anway lets hear your responses

They'd have to be from Outworld. MK's Earth is modern day. There aren't pirates around anymore =p

Ria (that sounds more like an assassin than a pirate) and something pirate sounding like Kudgel or something not as beastly. Simply L.R. or similar.

There are still pirates, just not the old kind we're talkin about - they rob expensive yachts and operate mainly around the pacfic rim. Anyway, yeah I think they should be from Outworld - but like Mileena Sai said they should have the ability to cross realms (maybe they stole a crystal like Nitara's) and have learnt unique fightning styles on their travels.

There should be a way to recommend ideas to Midway (I guess you could write), maybe they should consult fansites like this as we're the ones who will buy the game. This pirate idea is good, and i also started a thread about new areans - one reply about a cybernetics lab was great and honestly would be good enough for the next game (check out that thread - ideas for new arenas) they could really execute these ideas well. Maybe modifying it themselves to make it even better. MKO moderaters inform Midway now!(please)

yeah its very frustrating when u have a good idea u just want to go right up to ed boon and say "here look at my idea" ! lol :)

Hehe, Cervantes and Ivy from Soul Calibur 2 ARE father and daughter. We would not want MK to be a SC ripoff, would we? and please god, don't have a MK kharakter that looks or resembles, far or near, Raphael!(also from SC2)although i would not mind doing fatalities on him, hehe.

A pirate works in Soul Blade/Calibur because that game takes place in th 1500's. Mortal Kombat takes place now and in the future...of all types of character...ninja, sorcerer, whatever...a pirate would fit into Mortal Kombat the least. Heck, a pirate doesn't fit into MK at all. Cervantes is a kick ass character but the game and time period is proper for him...MK is not proper for a character of that type.

I can't comment on Cervantes cus i haven't played Soul Calibur but I honestly believe that done in the right way a pirate could be a welcome addition to the MK fighters. If you gave him a ruthless personality and came up with a great story (which shouldnt be too hard)and cool look (again, not hard) then why not? He's gotta be better than another Hsu Hao, Jarek or Reiko - all recycled former MK characters. But the pirate would have to be done so not to rip off Soul Calibur, cus no one wants that - maybe use Mileena Sai's idea of a badass female pirate?
Anyway if you agree or disagree then post a response explaining your choice - all responses are welcome!

Pirate, in my oppinion, would not fit into the MK world. MK is more of ninja, monks, gods, sorcerers, onis, and basic human. I think a better Oni like Belokk( a Eurocom designed character that never made it in to MK4) would be better and more appropriate than a pirate.

If made correctly, IMO, pirates could fit well into MK. Cyborgs fit well into MK, and most people dont have a problem with that. So whats wrong with pirates? There basically normal people that have bad teeth and cruel intentions.

A long while ago, i made a thread called new species and races. I was talking about pirates in it to, saying that it would be nice to have a pirate in MK. The way i picture it, the pirate could have the scurvey disease, with one arm, and the other as a hook or sword. He could have a patch eye, and perhaps an old western like outfit.

Actually, you guys have seen pirates of the carribean right? The skeleton pirates in there look pretty cool. So maybe there should be a zombie-like pirate, looking like a skeleton, but stil having flesh and blood.

There should be a totally new realm that has pirates in it. IMO it would be sweet, and the leader could be introduced to fight and rule all realms with his men.

they could still have certain pirate atributes like bandana's and pirate hats and feathers ect but it just looks more updated ect someone should do a fan art of her

Thankyou DarkNoob, he's explained it very well, (especialy good is the reference to the cyber ninja's) so do you guys still think that a pirate has no place in MK - just think of the stage he could have - on his ship (with a walk the plank stage fatality), on a desert island, in his treasure cave etc. Lets hear your positives and negatives.
And Mileena Sai has a good point - can anyone who thinks it's a good idea make a Fan Art of him/her so the non-believers can see our vision.
