My point is that if you have play many fighting games as I have, you are bound to see some copie that MK have done first.
Example #1
Shang Tsung was the first fighting game character to use mimic in a fighting game.
-Now you have fighting game like Tekken 3 and 4, Soul Calibur having one characters mimic everyone in that game.
Example #2
Believe or not MK 3 use the multi-tiered stage in 2D first, remember when you uppercut an MK fighter and he land on another stage.
-Dead or Alive creator whatever his name is should give prop to MK 3 and Boon for doing the multi-tiered stage first, without MK 3 doing that first who know what Dead or Alive stage might turn out right.

Shang Tsung was the first fighting game secret character in a fighting game.
-Now... well, all the fighting games have secret fighters.
And... WRONG FORUM!!!

True but MK is guilty of this as well,
Characters doing mutiple styles have been used since Tekken 3, just as the detection system for seeing whether someone is open for attack has been done, this new MK version is just different in the fact that it uses bars instead of the character being different colours.
Everyone copies off everyone else.

I don't believe that bull, because X-Men Children of the Atom had Multi-tier stages (ie Cols. stage). And X-Men Children of the Atom was released in arcades in 1994, while MK3 was release in 1995.
And on a side note, MK has copied more from other fighting games than anything.

Not true. Every game copied off about the same. Plus, how many games have tried to have finishing moves in their games. Lets see......
1.Killer Instinct series(love the game by the way)
2.Time Killers and it's sequel or prequel
3.Primal Rage 1 and 2 (yes, there was a 2, but it was only a prototype)
4.Weapon Lord (a 2-D game that was on the snes and genesis, it was actually good)
5.Tao Feng I think, not sure about this since I never played it, only heard about it).
6.Mace: The Dark Age (unique 3-D fighter)
I know there is some lesser games I have probably missed.
So even if MK did copy off more from other games, they pretty much can since they created one of the most used gimmicks that fighters have tried to copy through out time. Funny, that the ones that didn't copy off of MK and stuck to their own plans made it far, while the copy cats died out more or less. KI was the only one I liked alot.

Another example would be Eternal Champions which had stage finishes as well. The actually had some cool ones like knocking a character into a neon sign and watch them get electrocuted or knocking them into a high powered fan.

First off, no. My point about Multi-tier stages is true. Second off, not every game copied about the same. Some did more than others. And everything "new" that has come out of MK for the last few games actually was something old. Stance changes, Run, hari kari, fighters with or without weapons...all old.
Mortal Kombat contributed one really important aspect to fighting games...and that is juggles. You ask the question on how many games that have copied Fatalities. Well look how many games haven't. Heck, look at that list you have there.

"All games copy off eachother about the same, don't try to turn it into something it's not."
All games copy off of SF2 about the same. Fixed your quote. Have a nice day.

What's your point? I'm confused. That all games copy each other the same. Cause your still wrong.
Mortal Kombat has invented juggles. And it also influenced blood use and spawned a crapload of F list knock offs. Everything else about Mortal Kombat is "been there done that." They haven't made any real contributions to the genre in years. Every sequel since the beginning has been about coping other aspects of other games, and trying to pass them off as "new."
Meanwhile companies like Namco, Sega Am2, Capcom, etc have been constantly improving and defining the genre. How can you sit there and say the games like Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, etc...copied just as much as MK.
