Technically, they haven't lied to us at all. We've built up all this hype and speculation ourselves.
OFFICIALLY, so far, all we know is the MK8 is coming and that it uses the Unreal Engine and that they're rebuilding the game... that's it. No DC crap, no versus rumors, nothing.... that's all we know for sure.
I am going off the presumption that the DC rumors are part of the viral campaigning, but you're correct that this idea is an assumption on my part. Still, Scorpio hit the mark about the countdown. 34 days for a blurred pic is unjust, and IMO, a bit unfaithful.
