The guys over at GameSpot have gotten their hands on three more videos of the GameCube version of Mortal Kombat: Deception. Two of them are actually just updated versions of the "Trading Kard bios" (made famous in the Kollector's Edition/Premium back in the USA, as well as the MKD Preview DVD in European countries), but now with footage from the GameCube version. The other video is a great looking trailer put together by Midway that features our favorite two bosses doing some killer combos!
Thanks to MK Online forum member Humulis for the news!

Nah, that's just his lack of understanding of the concept called "continuity" bubbling to the surface.

Actually, if you understand what continuity means, everyone would HAVE to have immortal souls that are eternal just to keep continuity. This is what MK has stated from the beginning. (Shang Tsung feeds off people's souls, Scorpion went to Hell but came back and thus didn't "really die", etc.)

As long that we continue saying and ask "hey bring that character back again", there will not exist death in Mortal Kombat. Well, I like all the characters, some more, some less.
I would like that they should separate them by games. In next Mortal Kombat use Earthrealm warrios, in other use Outworld characters.

Lay off. That doesn't explain everyone else who isn't immortal always coming back all the time...not every single character in MK is immortal, yet every single character who has died at one point or another has come back. This is why I think he's complaining...he perfectly understands continuity, you're just jumping on his back and getting on his case for the wrong reason.
Continuity and MK...not quite as cohesive as peanut butter and jelly. And frankly I think putting Kahn in the GC version is not only an utterly ridiculous destruction of the game's continuity (makes the shock of Havik's ending completely disappear), its also a smack in the face. It also totally FUBAR's the story of Deception and destroys the anticipation of his 'possible' return in MK7. As for Goro...he was killed during the battle with Kahn's forces, and probably 150 times before that, and he's back again.
This is getting old...real fast.

I just hate how Vogel specifically seems to put himself into stupid writing positions that could have been easily avoided in the first place. Khan died, Goro died, but now they're back without a real reason to be back. I'm pretty sure their back stories explaining their return will be incredibly sloppy basically saying, "We're back because Vogel said so and Boon is our daddy." Saying nobody ever really dies in MK is just sloppy and basically takes away the impact from a storyline death... Liu Kang anybody?
If you're going to bring someone back from death then use words that are elusive. Words like "apparent" or phrases like "believed to have been killed..." etc. Those work better than "He died... Oops! He's back because the fans demanded it and because I said so!"
The way it looks though is that Vogel comes up with ideas one game at a time and tries to make the pieces fit with each progressive game, damned be the continuity. What he should do is think at least one or two game(s) ahead to prevent continuity problems. Writing a good story is like painting a scenic picture... You can't make a picture without a canvas, and you can't make a scene without a background. Start with the large and fundamental background and work your way in. Create the what, where and why before the who.
Then again, I suppose I shouldn't really care considering it's not my story but at least Vogel could try to make it not look so fanfiction-like.

Who cares about the story? MK games never had good story in first place, and people do not play MK games because of the story. Also you would think that the MK story has been "ruined" many times before.
What matters is that i can soon play with Goro and Kahn. :)

MK has allways had the best fighter story. Alot of people DO play for the story....Who cares about the story? MK games never had good story in first place, and people do not play MK games because of the story. Also you would think that the MK story has been "ruined" many times before.

I play for the game and the story. I like how the story turned from a mad sorceror with an appitite for souls turn into the battle for earthrelm. Now regarding the whole Shao Kahn Goro situation, I think its a good thing their in the game but I would like an explination like the Deadly Alliance thought they killed Kahn but he survived but barely. I know that sounds like Kabals intro when Mavado attacked him but he survived. And Goro he was killed by Noob Saibot so whats the deal?

Name one character in MK who is not immortal, or doesn't have an immortal soul. You can't.
This is why as long as Heaven and Hell exist in MK, there will be always be life after death. And I think they're doing a good job keeping it fresh by either having some people return from "near death", others literally die and come back, and in Johnny Cage's case, his deaths were retconned completely. Honestly, what else can they do to keep it fresh? Have you thought this through at all?

Heh, well though she hasn't come back, she still has a soul (and actually, I've heard rumors that she's in Konquest mode, but I haven't verified this myself). Shang Tsung's Soul Steal Fatality works on her and stuff, ya know?
