Ground attacks and Projectile catching

Here are some more ideas.

I was thinking that instead of just getting up after a knockdown, characters should have some ground attacks that they can perform whilst on their back. It would save getting up and walking into an opponents chain combo. Attacking the enemy whilst grounded would cause them to think twice about their approach. This would also help people who didn't find the tech rol useful like myself.

As for projectile catching, this would only work for some characters. Basically, if it's pure fireball energy, characters should be able to catch the opponents assuming they come from the same chi or something. In effect, you can toss them straight back at the opponent.

The exceptions would be Sub-Zeros Ice Blast and Raiden's Lightning blast. You cannot catch these. doing so would just frreeze or shock you. Also, it would be cool if you could side step and cut Scorpions spear rendering it useless or temporarily disabling ir whilst ir regrows or something.

Definitely have to agree with you hear. It really ticked me off that my character was pretty much helpless if knocked down. As soon as I would get on my feet I'd be kissing the floor again after getting a severe combo beating. They really need to add some ground attacks in Deception for the simple reason that every character has a knock down move some even have multiple knock down moves. There should be a way to retaliate. And everone's attack should be completely different and suited to their style of fighting. Damn man, you are on fire today! LOL tongue

Ground moves are needed. I agree that everyones attack should be different. They should be style based for varaiation.

No kidding, you should have like crazy dragon points your threads are always orinial and thought provoking which I thought was the prerequisite for DP. Also Midway Personnel should sit up and take notes too. wink Seriously I wouldn't be to surprised to see any of your ideas in MKD or if not in this one then in MK7. If so I hope you get the recognition you deserve.

This is really cool. But wouldn't characters like Kenshi and Ermac have the advantage over any projectile attack since they use telekenisis? They could redirect all the attacks back at their users.So they couldn't have it. They could probably block every attack with their telekenetic power.So they can't have that.Cool idea though.

Really goo ideas again. But It would seem a bit unfair if only some characters could delfect back attacks while others couldnt. But I'm sure something could be worked out.

I guess they could do that! They'd have an advantage over Sub-Zero and Frost then. The only two who ca send their ice blasts back at them!

MetaDragonX: Something would be worked out. I don't like things being unfair and so I would find a way to balance the whole thing out.

I don't think you should be able to necessarily catch the fireball rather you do something else that has the same result.

Essentially, when a projectile, any projectile approach your character you do a manuever that slows the projectile down and then the projectile spins around your character then is fired towards your opponent. So basically, if I see a projectile approaching me, I would stick my hands out, slow the projectile down then I would slowly turn while my hands still face the projectile until I reach a point where the projectile is facing my opponent then I release, and the projectile would go faster. All this happens very quickly.

The deflection should be initiated by pressing the reversal button when the projectile comes within a certain distance of you.

A wake up system would be greatly appreciated. I've been bitching about the lack of one since DA was released, and have expressed my views on this subject in the stickies Ray posted.

As far as "projectile catching" goes?. I think it would be a good feature, if MKD were to be more meter based. If some sort of super or build-up style meter were to be implemented such a feature could greatly add to the system. A possible "absorb" feature could be added, like a projectile parry which would build meter. Then the meter could be expelled for whatever reason; supers, agressor, etc. Or something of the sorts.

As it stands now, as it was presented, it is fairly shallow, IMHO. It's not a bad idea, I just think there needs to be more than just "stealing a fireball" in order to make the feature worth being implemented. Whatever, though. Peace and love ya'll.
