How did Liu Kang get his chains?

You know I've always never really liked Liu Kang, but after that MK:A intro he's badass and that undead, pissed off zombie scream voice is killer!!

why would liu go to hell??i never really thought about the chains thing. i think its one of those things that are self explanatory but at the same time u really dont know why
I think to have the solution:
Liu Kang is a shaolin, and, if I don't remmeber wrong, when a shaolin champion die, they don't bury him in a coffin, but chaining the body with two chain starting from arm and hooket with the two hook at one kind of stretcher used for move the body. To don't show the chain, the body is even wrap in some silk's rolls....
Obvious, the silk will be destroied by the same Liu when he's come back to live, raising from the heart of his tomb, but the chain's are still hooket on his armbard and ready to be use as a weapons!
I realy hope of they are his new weapons! More cool of the nunchaku!

You are simply hilarious.
And yes, they are so "in".

Maybee they are storyline explainable ?
Whoever reanimated his body could have chaind him up in order to stop him attacking them whilst they worked their magic ?
These chains were broken by his intence streingth brought on from being Champion of Mortal Kombat ofcourse
, and thus Liu has chains.
Or it could be that sometimes Zombies are thought of to have chains on them from their torture in hell, or netherealm if you will, this could be merely the imagination of a Midway member.

Interesting ideas, great post. It would be cool if it was something like that.

maybe the guy that conrolled his body put chains on him to symbolize that he was a prisoner of the guy that brang him back to life

Maybe he pulled a jason,It would be understanable,Jason doesn't stop killing until he kills the ones that could have saved him from drowning,Liu Kang won't stop at anything to kill shang tsung, even if he has to kill friends.Face it, he's like Jason, wich is badass.& how the hell are chains a goth thread, for Christ sakes,oh thats right you don't believe in jesus,I was goth once, until they tried to make me drink dog blood, then I completly snapped when I heard they killed the dog right before I drank it,I kicked all thier ass's one by one they fell, goths suck at fighting, what ya gonna do, stab me & give ny soul to the devil,I've been stabbed before so ,I beleive a little in goth,I know curses so you try shit with me its gonna back fire,I am Hellrazer not Hellraiser, big difference.

just for looks i guess, not sure how he got em, they just stuck em on him, i actually wanted to use those as weapons for deception
I always thought he did use them in MKD. He has one move where he appears (at least to me) where he whips the other guy with the chains like a whip. It was a most basic move, I think I did it a few times when I first unlocked him & laughed my ass off. When he does a downward punch he seems to be whipping the other guy with the chains. just for looks i guess, not sure how he got em, they just stuck em on him, i actually wanted to use those as weapons for deception
That's my interpretation of it anyway.
