I kinda agree with you man. I do want some females in this game but I don't want alot, 6 or 7 is enough.

I understand that girls/women want to plays as the women and that the guys/men want to play as the men in the game since it's their sex that they are kicking ass with. The only thing that puzzles me is when a girl likes playing as all the male characters and when a guy likes playing as all the female characters.

I'd say it's probably because you might like the character design of someone or you like their moves, In Deadly Alliance I was best with Kung Lao and Li Mei, I used Li Mei not because she was a girl but I liked her special moves and her fighting styles. It's also a bruise some guys egos to get beaten by a girl I know in Street Fighter Alpha 3 my friend would get upset if I beat him as Sakura but whenever I beat him as a guy he didn't care haha.

A. Some dude?
B. A cute girl?

I don't know about you but I'd rather look at a girl if I'm going to be playing a game for a while lol. The only time I'll pick a guy over a girl is if the guy is a complete pimp like Jin Kazama was in Tekken 4 or something similar to that.

I think it doesn't matter what sex they are. I think some people pick more girls because they are just better with them. For example in my case, If I have to choose between 'Nitara & Kung Lao' I would pick Nitara, not because she is a girl, but because I know that I would have better chances winning with her than with Kung Lao. Not because Kung Lao sucks, is just that I am not good enough with him. Or if I have to pick between 'Frost & Scorpion' I know right away that I would win with Frost. Even though she is a girl. So I don't understand why is this a big deal?

Both me and my brother prefer the women characters...they look far better, tend to have better moves and fatalities, etc. It's all personal choice at the end of the day so to make a statement like gay guys play as the girls is pathetic.

Look at other fighting games outside MK...Ivy in SC2, far better than any of the guys until Raph showed up. DoA3...the women are the main feature.

But what annoys me is that the attitude of you guys is forcing me to become a feminist...a male feminist. It's a bit barbaric to "i play as the guys cos I'm a real man", it really does make me laugh. Grow up and find security in your sexuality.

Very true. Plus this is a gruesome fighting game, not some model/swimsuit fighter crap.

Also I would like to add the majority of video game players are males, this is without a doubt. Plus if you dig deeper, mostly only guys play fighters, the majority of female gamers out there play adventure games or other stuff but not many play fighters.

You take this all into account and no fighter should ever have as many females as it does males. That's just wrong to the male majority who plays fighters and games in general. Any kind of hobbie/interest in the world is catered to the majority of people who perform it. If fighters and games are mainly a male thing(which it is) then its only right to give more male characters since most guys will pick and relate to a male character over a female character.

I noticed time and time again that new comers or past players pick the player depending on looks and sex which is normal. Most guys who are new to MK or at least the 3-D MK games will pick a male fighter while the girls would pick a female. Now considering more and more guys will pick up a MK game before a girl does, it's only fair to have a bigger selection for the guys. I think the only reason the girls are thrown into fighting games is to keep the small majority of girls who play fighting games happy. Plus so there is no wrong doing aimed towards females which I can understand.

In no way did I ever say that the characters You choose prooves your sexuality. What I said, is that I noticed that MOST guys that use females in viedo games TEND to be gay. Heck some of the people in this board prooved it. Thats all, no need to feel agressive.

Let me explain that a little better.

I was being a little generic with my post to include other genres besides fighting games. Like RPGs such as KOTOR where you do actually spend a lot of time looking at your character for the majority of the game.

It works in fighting games as well, true you may not be looking at your character all the time but you do look at your characters at times like when you're changing stances and making sure where you are in the arena... ESPECIALLY in games like Tekken or Virtua Fighter that don't hold your hand and tell you what stance you're using. It's a little easier on the eyes lol.

I dunno, I've always just liked using female characters just in principle besides looks. Women are seen as underdogs for some reason or another in fighting games, and I like that whole being outmatched thing. I guess it makes me feel pretty good at the end of the fight to say, "You were better than me and I still beat you even if you weren't better than me."

I guess it sounds kind of goofy but meh, take it or leave it lol.

But anyway to get back on topic, I like the selection of females in this game.

I think that some of them use only 'guys' because they feel more powerful, and keep the "macho" thing going. this is just my humble opinion though. So don't get mad!

I'm not being aggressive, I'm being fair. I get sick and tired with the debate of 'real men' playing with male characters issue. The women appeal to alot of guys...it was proven that Sonya was the most popular in MK, and Kano the least popular, hence why they were missing from MK2...so it can't simply be the girls choosing Sonya, otherwise there are a hell of alot of girls playing MK.

Sorry, but this is a debate that is bound to cause conflicts of opinion...men vs women...its not good.

I wasn't saying you know, that a guy is gay by not picking a woman or any less a man by wanting to use a man over a woman, I was just trying to give my words more of an impact. Sonya wasn't a favorite. We all know Sub-Zero and Scorpion got the attention. Sonya has fans on here, but in the arcades not many people picked her unles they knew she was top tier, then they used the leg grab for all it's worth. She was liked indeed, but not favored by many.

Also like I said before, it's all based on the majority. You can argue that all you want, but you're not aruging with anyone but facts.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but I always come across people slagging off or being ignorant to women in these forums and it annoys the hell out of me.

I love the girls in MK. So far I think the girls have had better moves and fatalities and generally play better than the males. Some of my favourites are female, and some are male. And I seriously think its utter crap to say guys who pick girl characters are gay. I know plenty of straight guys who love using the women characters. And like Ive said I personally like to Kitana if she's there, and some of the females are my faves, but I dont consider myself to be gay.

Being beaten by a female character or choosing one is irrelevant nowadays, if you go into an arcade for serious competitive play, no one cares. Most of the games currently out have females as the strongest character in the game or one of the strongest, therefore they are used as much... well even more with the current generation of games than male characters. People who play characters for the most options in battle, to win, etc. in competitive play will pick the best character to do it with, regardless of sex.

Hell, if a stick figure was the strongest character in Mortal Kombat with the most mix-up and great options, you would bet that I would play that stick figure.

Guys in fighting games is WAY too freakin common now, it's gettin' kinda old. Women add some variety to fighting games. Besides, it's fun to humiliate and kick the tar outta a person with a big-brested chick and laugh in their face, lol. I ONLY play as chicks in ANY fighting game. I'd probably shrivle up and die if there were no females in fighting games.... (not really, but it would suck)

hmm, in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, I kind of felt some of the female characters played better than the male characters. Sonya, for example, despite the fact that I hate her as a character, I loved to play as cos she had some of the best moves and best fighting styles in the game. I like the girls alot more than the guys in MK. Im a guy.Im not gay either. But certain things appeal to me more about the girls than the guys. Whether it be special movies,fighting styles,weapons,costumes etc. I just like them more. I do like some of the guys such as Baraka,Scorpion,Fujin,and Drahmin. But I would choose someone such as Sindel or Kitana over them anyday.

Hey it's kool, I didn't mean to come across as a sexist, just stating the facts and why some things just shouldn't be. Also you'll be glad to know I wasn't the one who said I didn't care if any girls were in it that was the guy before me. I said I think 6 or 7 is fair cause I do play with the girls every now and then just to fresh things up a bit and random select also helps.
