I agree as well. I'd rather Liu and Kitana deal with their individual situations themselves and leave any mention of their relationship for the endings.

Well, I think her and Rain could develop a romantic relationship over the time of MKA, and once she sees Zombie Liu, or talks to his undead spirit, he'd want Kitana to kill "him" to just finally end the agony he is being put through. Then she would get married to Rain and they could both rule Edenia happily ever after (or not, something's always happening to Edenia).
Kitana might be hesitant for a second or too, but I think she would realize that is not truly Liu and that this monster needs to be destroyed. Kitana is not stupid. She knows what she's doing. She would kick Zombie Liu's ass all the way from Kahn's Palace to the Shaolin Temples.

Yeah, Liu Kang and Kitana's relationship could definitely do more development... though it sort of left up to the mind of the player. MK:SM was their big chance to develop Liu Kang and Kitana's relationship, but they blew it. (Then MK:SM was their chance to do a lot of things with the story and characters, and they blew just about every single one of them)
Then again, she may meet with the Spirit Liu. (Assuming he's the one who frees her and the others from Onaga's control, which looks like the all likelihood.)
Liu Kang and Kitana's relationship doesn't necessarily have to be "Liu Kang goes to the Heavens while Kitana lives on" to be bittersweet. It could be the other way around where Liu comes back to life but Kitana dies in the story. (Though that is extremely unlikely and I myself would rather them do it another way) Or like we saw at the end of MK4 where Liu Kang and Kitana couldn't stay with each other due to their responsibilities as MK Champion and Princess of Edenia respectively, it could be something like that. We'll find out one way or the other.

I think it all really depends on Kitana's own state of mind in MKA.
We dont know what happened to her, and dont know her full story and ending from MKUnchained yet. for all we know Kitana could be evil in MKA.
In addition, Kitana and Liu Kang, IMO, arent exactly the love of each others lives. Liu Kang turned down her offer of returning to Edenia with her, and from all we can tell from MKDA and MKD, the two have lived seperate lives for years. Kitana's MKDA ending has her attend Goro's funeral and pause for a minute of silence to remember Liu Kang (though the ending wasnt really canon, but still it doesnt have her being this heart-broken type either).
Even with that though, in seeing, or hearing of Liu's undeaed self, Im pretty sure a 'normal' Kitana would be pretty horrified, angry and confused. She'd most likely try and find out what happened and if there was any way she could aid the situation.
But what about an evil Kitana. How would she react? That Im not too sure about.
In addition, she's perhaps had some sort of experience in this department, with being reunited with her mother, Sindel, who she beleived to be dead.

That would make more sense than most other theoris on this but then again, who knows whats gonna happen with this.

What I see as happening if this happened, and also if she's freed in MKA, she would know that Liu was in fact two seperate forms for the time being, she would fight with all she had, but make sure to not do anything drastic to Liu's body, seeing as if she cut off Zombie Liu's arm, when he came back he wouldn't have an arm. And I do see some depth put into Liu's and Kitana's relationship after MKA.

Well, Kitana's MKDA ending was partially canon in that she really did go to visit Goro's funeral and all that. It's just that the stuff with the defeat of the Deadly Alliance is of course non-canon. One thing I'm surprised you didn't remember was that the ending mentioned Kitana really wanting Liu Kang to join her side.

Well the Gamecube version of MKD kind of ballsed up her ending, since Goro's body was found and restored by kahn, was there a funeral for her to go to?

After he was healed by Kahn, Goro put the Shokan Royal Seal on a similar looking Shokan whose face was messed up. That was the body that was taken back to camp, that Kitana stayed beside until he died, and probably the body that was subsequently buried.
