human models V.S. 3d characters
i know that Ed Boon said that working with 3d characters had more possibilities and was easier but what did you like more between those 2? ....personnaly i have nothing against 3d characters but it its like the whole feeling of the old MK is less obvious..what do you think?

Ok........... if your saying that you like the idea of characters in Mk being 3D then thats cool, but if your saying youd rather have them 2D then i think your crazy. Games have been alot better in 3D than in 2D
Just guessing at what you said is all

LOL!
we are entitled to our own opinion and me saying that MK unhumanized is different and not quite the same thing but still it is great does not make me crazy.
and if it wasnt something that characterised the game, give me 3 games that has digital humans..all the ones that has did that were imitations of MK at the time and those game had no sequels..tey didnt last

Hey, buddy, I think what you mean is 3D Realistic Human Models, not fake 3D character models.
I would rather there be 3D Realistic Human Models than what they had in MK4 and MKDA.
If they can come up with some technology to capture REAL-LIFE HUMANS in 3D, then, the MK series has taken another step forward!

In Mortal Kombat 4 they based each fighter of actual human renderings. Back in 1997 the technology was not as advanced as it is today. I think that the developers could try at this again with more sophisticated technology and have the faces and bodies of each character to portray the face of the people who posed for that character.
The developers of the game "Onimusha 3" are basing a game character off of a french actor whom I forgot his name but he starred in films such as "Mission Impossible" and "Godzilla" and from the screen shots that I have seen already they have done a pretty good job capturing his face onto a videogame.

i miss the old 2D Kombat as well.. To me the 3D gives it less of a MK feel, like you said. What more can they do with 2D models though? MK is MK though, and MKD looks awesome.

I take your meaning the same wasy grizzle did- and i agree that mk should strive to be as realistic- at least as far as the human character models go- as possible.
The guy in onimusha 3 is jean reno, and the 3d model does look just like him. (capcoms character models are amongst the best around i think- look at devil may cry and the resident evil remake too) Neither tekken, virtua fighter nor mortal kombat currently have models that realistic- i think if mk did so it would be a big selling point- it's a big part of what made the original games what they were.

OFFENSE TAKEN, "DUDE!" I'm the smartest programmer to ever work on an MK....
I mean, Oh, no problem, I'm just a simple messageboard-goer.

My thoughts exactly. If it's one thing I miss from older MKs, it's the realistic characters.
Oh, and for the record, the Japanese main character in Onimusha 3 (who was also in the earlier Onimushas, unless I'm mistaken) is also based on a famous actor - Takeshi Kaneshiro, who's huge in Japan.
mk6 will be the last time mk characters don't look "life-like". because next generation is going to be insane with the power of consoles. just stomach out one more game if you can manage
. doa3/ultimate is the closest were going to get to realism in the current generation of fighting games. and even they don't look THAT realistic. but next generation will be insane.
if you think about it, we've been having this generation since 1999 starting with the dreamcast.

That actors name is Jean Reno. he was in "nikita" too. the movie, not the series. i kinda liked the way the old mks looked, but mkda looks great too. make it look like mkda, but better and i will be happy.

I think I see what you guys are saying.
Make the characters a little more human looking. It is like when they came out with the Beefed up versions of the Original Star Wars Character. Luke looked like Superman on steroids.
I think it needs to go back to that Realism look. Johny Cage looked like a plastic Action Figure.
Maybe wrap a real picture or face around the a more realistic 3d model. except for the demons and such.

I like both the 2d and 3d fighting, but it would be best to leave Mk 3d now and try to recapture the feel of the past games. MK is evolving now and it shouldn't go back to being 2d.
The 3d models need to look a lot more realistic though. And of course the game needs to be more realistic. Just give the series time to evolve more and realism will become reallity.
