A playable, undead Lui Kang is returning for MKD. Most people are complaining that he was a trite Archetype which never got developed, but he's been completely revamped now. I'm not saying his playability has changed, cause I have no idea. But storywise, he'll be much fresher this time around.

No one has shown me a source (and I've asked several times) that he will be a playable character - only that he will be in the game. I think this is more commmunity hyped (remember Nudalities?) than is fact.

The people who have "inside" information have confirmed it. I'm not gonna say they are wrong or right. I'm gonna wait till I see it with my own eyes.

I'm pretty sure he was confirmed along with Smoke in the Game Informer article which interviewed Steve Beran(sp?). Could be wrong about Lui, though. Either way, the same users who claimed Nightwolf and Tanya's return before they were confirmed said Kang was returning for MKD. These guys have earned my trust with there flawless record of providing accurate unreleased info. But he may not have been one of the characters Game Informer mentioned, but I think he is.

A lot of people completely ignore this article when it comes to facts. It sickens me that a lot of people still don't believe Smoke is confirmed.

Anyways, I'm happy that Liu Kang has come back. Like TUN said, I'm inclined to believe those individuals with inside sources. They've proven me wrong enough to earn my trust. Until they're wrong, of course. I've always liked Liu Kang, and I felt that having one game without him would be good. Now I'm ready for him to come back. I've never minded the turkey mating calls, as it just reminded me of Bruce Lee.

I just hope that they made him evil, and gave him a better costume than the ones he's had in the past. Very plain.

Liu Kang was the Ryu of Mortal Kombat. When Midway killed him off at the beginning of Deadly Alliance, they officially separated themselves from being just a bloody, gory Street Fighter clone. Think about it: He's Mortal Kombat Champion twice in a row (can't really consider MK3 and MK4 'tournaments', since they weren't officially held as such), he had never lost in a fight, and all he did was wander around the realms kicking bad guy ass, JUST LIKE RYU. He was the stereotypical "Unbeatable Wandering Martial Artist for Good", which made him rather stale storywise. Plus, his moves and Fatalities were rather uninspired (Flying Kick, check; Fireball, check; transformation into chinese dragon, check...). What made him even sadder, was that he was the focal point in most of the games. If anyone could stop the mad sorcerer, evil tyrant from another dimension, or rogue Elder God, it was Liu. By killing him off in MK: DA, Midway broke that tradition and forced the game to not rely on the stereotypes to survive (like most fighting games do). True, evil beings wanting to rule the world will always be around, but Mortal Kombat's always been about deviation from the norm; atypical villians, unusual world-conquering plots and motivations, abnormal characters, allegiences that can be flip-flopped in a heartbeat... This is what Mortal Kombat's all about. Liu Kang was, at the core, a holdback to the old style of fighting games, one that Midway and the game didn't need. Having him killed got rid of that holdback. But now they're bringing him back. Why? I have no clue. They're just limiting themselves again, instead of using his death to really take the game to a whole new level. Quite frankly, I would've liked to see Liu dead for good, but, alas, that is not the case. I don't make the game, they do. Let's just hope they have a very good story for him, now, and put him to rest finally afterwards.

Well everyone....you'll be pleased to know that even though our fun-luvin, turkey-gobblin, jet-li jackie -chan man is back...HOWEVER...he is not our main hero.

Everything is pointing to him being evil this time round, somthing to do with having the best human fighter in the world on the side of the dragon king. And it has been confirmed that there is a new hero. YES IN WRITTING...and it went ont o say somehting like this... (not word for word sorry)
