Since EVERY character EVER designed is in KONQUEST mode, isn't it safe to assume that NO ONE can be excluded from this game solely based off of any previous storyline in which they supposedly died?

If a character is considered dead how could they make an appearance in Konquest?

If this is true than that means that in all the years of Mortal Kombat... NO ONE HAS EVER DIED. wow

That's just slightly funny... grin

IMO, i think the characters appearing in konquest means nothing with the storyline. For an example, if we see "Meat" giving you a prized weapon, i'm sure he would have NOTHING to do with the story line. And by the way, i hope this doesnt happen either, because a dozen of characters appearing in the story would be craptastic.

While I agree with you, it still means, as far as anyone knows, that EVERY character would have to be alive for you to interact with them.

what i think is that the konquest mode is completely separate from the story, as your custom character will have no effect on the story.

EARTH TO SKYTRAPPER! If you assume that Konquest is even remotely canon, than how can thousands and thousands of generic monks all lead the exact same life up to a point and then branch off and all win the fight against the Dragon King? Answer is: THEY CAN'T!!! Konquest is to the MK storyline what Britney Spears is to All-Natural. The point? They have nothing to do with each other.

Has it been said anywhere how exactly each character appears? I mean if you run around and find Sheeva or Liu Kang's dead body, techinically they appeared in Konquest, no?

I really hope they don't undo any character's deaths for Konquest mode. Not counting Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Mileena were the only chacaters to officially die and be resurrected. Let that be the end of it.

You're missing the point...

Neither of us know for a fact, but logic tells me that a Konquest mode with a deeper storyline than any previous MK game, would be made to fit in with the MK universe MORE... not less.

Since Konquest has been compared to RPG's so far, it doesn't make sense that the main storylines would necessarily have to be in the relatively miniscule endings that have been found in every MK game to date.

I think that they can have all the characters because of the situations you would meet them under. Boon said that you will be able to go to a couple of different worlds one of those might be the Netherealm, so you probably can find some of the dead characters there.

As a matter of fact, I heard that any character you see in the Netherealm is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, DEAD! Only what I heard, though.

Well, remember that in Konquest mode you're supposed to be able to spend years of in-game time. So presumably you can meet those characters before they die.

Or as others have said, it just won't count towards MK continuity, which is already fairly loose as it is.

Exactly, umm, aren't there supposed to be 6 realms in it? Maybe heaven & the netherealm are some of them and you can visit the dead there... makes sense to me.

If memory serves, Nitara had an item that let her open portals to other realms, at least Earthrealm.

Maybe you could kick the crap out of her and take that. Instant portal between realms.

From what I understand, Konquest Mode takes your monk of YEARS of training and story. I think the most logical answer (which was mentioned above by another poster) is that you will meet alot of characters before the events of their deaths.Being you start as a teenager, you could technically start Konquest during MK1, and finish in time for Deception, which would make you just old enough to have learned everything.

yeah!!!.....between mk1 and mkda are 10 years....(i think)....remenber your character stars as a 13 years old kid.....anyway you guys just wait till the game is release...ok?
I recall hearing that Netherealm is there and all characters you meet there, are dead and that is how you find out if a character is dead or not.

Since Konquest seems to be progressive (there is a timeline, and you grow old as time passes) maybe it's not safe to assume that the timeline "starts" where MK:D does. If it refers to a time prior to MK:D then it would be plausible for all characters to be there, even if they are "dead" in the main storyline.

Of course, this is all nonsense since Konquest has nothing to do with the game's storyline :p

Didn't the interview use the phrasing "every character will make an appearance in Konquest mode...in some form or another"? This likely means you could just see a statue of Liu Kang in the hall of heroes, or a poster of Johnny Cage in somebody's bedroom.
