If Fujin returned...possible story arcs

posted03/08/2004 06:57 PM (UTC)bySince this seems to popular lately, posting theories on characters, how about a theory about a character that we don't know the fate of yet?
Keep in mind, this is a speculation and idea thread, and if you're gonna post just to say 'I hate Fujin', then don't waste our time.
I already posted a long theory on the 'If Raiden returns' thread, which I'll reiterate here.
When Raiden begged his fellow Elder Gods to help in the coming threat of the Deadly Alliance, his pleas fell on deaf ears. If I remember correctly, the Elder Gods have the ability to watch over all realms, but cannot necessarily involves themselves. Raiden, with his love for the mortals of Earth, took it upon himself to once again take mortal form, risking his very existence and abandoning his status as Elder, once again leads a band of warriors into Outworld in an attempt to stop the Deadly Alliance.
So where was Fujin? Simple. Like Raiden in the past, Fujin cannot leave Earthrealm. As its protector, he must stay and watch over the events that happen, and if Raiden and the mortals should fail, then it would be up to Fujin to call upon remaining warriors, such as Nightwolf, just as Raiden did in MK3. In MK2, Raiden acted as protector by taking a mortal form and going into Outworld. Fujin couldn't risk death in his mortal form in Outworld, which is why he did NOT participate in the events of MKDA...they didn't concern him yet.
Now, with warriors like Nightwolf returning in MKD, it is possible that once again, Earth is being threatened directly by the Outworld menace. Deadly Alliance hinted that Shang Tsung and Quan Chi were successful in reviving just abou the entirety of the Dragon King's army...but the Deadly Alliance, as far as we know, has been beaten. And we also are aware of the fact that the Dragon King HAS returned. With his army already revived, it is possible that the Dragon King is using his army to breach the realms, as Shao Kahn did in MK3, and is preparing to stage an attack on Earthrealm.
We don't really know where this game takes place...it could be only Outworld, but it can also stretch across Edenia(hence the return of Sindel), Outworld AND Earthrealm(hence the return of Nightwolf). As protector of Earth, Fujin must now make his return!
I wasn't fond of MK4, but I did like Fujin...an interesting character, to say the least, so without further ado, lets theorize that he MIGHT be in the game, and post our ideas, shall we?
Story:
As protector of the Realm of Earth, Fujin could only watch from afar as the events concerning Raiden and the Deadly Alliance unfolded. Successful in their mission, Raiden and his warriors could not celebrate their victory for long, as the resurrection of the Dragon King threatened Earthrealm. Fujin, as Protector of Earth, began to gather allies both old and new to prepare for this imminent threat.
As Protector of Earth, Fujin has taken the form of a mortal to directly battle the forces of the Dragon King, and as his predecessor Raiden did before him, lead his band of warriors against this threat. As Raiden and his warriors continue the fight in Outworld, Fujin and his chosen fighters defend Earth from invasion, as well as from a clandestine, domestic threat that has been growing in power, and stands as yet another threat to the sanctity of Earthrealm.
There you have it...Fujin, the reason for his absence in DA, and the story of his return in Deception.
Enjoy...post your own ideas.
And of course by clandestine(secret) threat, that can be anything...the Tekunin, the Red Dragon...whatever.

"I HATE FUJIN" lol
Shang that was very interesting and I think that is more than a great storyline for Fujin. I bet you are right for the most part.
Like I said I think that the Dragon King will return, at the beginning of the game and appear before Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung would glance over Quan Chi and give him the look of "lets attack" but there is something that Shang Tsung isn't aware of. Quan Chi has the Amulet. The Amulet that has power over the Dragon Kings Army and now that the Dragon King has returned, The Amulet has power over Quan Chi and The Dragon King over the Amulet.
The Dragon King would instruct Quan Chi to kill Shang Tsung and following would use Quan Chi in an invasion of Earth Realm.
While the Earth Warriors are still fighting in Outworld, the invasion of the Earth realm is iminate. Fujin gathers up what warriors he can, NO JOHNNY CAGE, but Nightwolf, STryker(maybe) and many others to lead a fight agaisnt the dragon kings multiple plane MOrtal Kombat Tournament.

Yeah it does, but unfortunately I think it was already confirmed that the character with the pony tail IS sub-zero.

That sucks
I sort of had my hopes up too. Fujin wasn't a bad guy. plus I don't think the pony-tail sutes sub that well.
Thanks

I really hope he is in Mk:d. I mean everyone didnt like him because he kinda sucked in Mk4 but if they could just improve Fujin a little, like maye shoot a gust of wind or a small tornado as a projectile he could be good. ALso with all the juggling combos. He was a really cool char, he reminded me of Storm(X-Men) and she was the coolest. I like wind and stuff better then lightning. Raidens still cool though

I would like to see Fujins return, and the idea that he wasn't in MK:DA was due to that most/all of the action took place in Outworld is a good one. However, how many dieties do we really want in MKD? I pray to the little gods of technology every night that Raiden will return, and most are assuming that Ashran (sp?) is a goddess. With Fujin, that would make three dieties and thats if Shinnok does not make a return as well.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the windbag but if it was a choice between Raiden and Fujin my vote goes to Raiden. Also, in order to grow MK needs new characters and we have yet to see a female diety. (Not counting the MKA movie.)

I completely agree with you LadyRaiden. When it comes between Raiden and Fujin, I'd rather have Raiden. I just would hate to see a decent character design and concept be a one-time wonder...well 2, technically, if you count MKM. Assuming the battle spills over to Earth this time, I just think it would be cool to see the return of Fujin, as Earth's acting protector, fighting alongside Raiden, who still defies the Elder Gods by remaining as a mortal to fight the Dragon King's menace. And as for Ashrah, if she too is a deity, then you might be right. 3 gods may be a bit much, but we won't know for a while yet.
