in all seriousness, I don't think that mystification is too bad a name (well, it is kind of fruity)... I think its just that most people have been psyched for this game and as soon as the subtitle: Deception was revealed it's just kind of locked in fans minds due to anticipation/hype... i suppose a title change seems like blasphemy

I'm getting the game in the good ol' US of A (yep, that's some cowboy G Dubya shit right there.. YEE-HAW!) so I don't have to worry about it. Maybe that's why I don't understand why people care so much about a name change in France... it's not like any other country is stuck with it

I also thought, not only here in Dom. Rep., but in latin american, the name Deception would get change to something else, because as MaxDam just mentioned Deception means dissapointment in spanish (Decepción).

Few of my friends heard about the tittle here and said "what? It means it's a 'dissapoinment'?". However...

I think it's stupid that because of the tittle for a videogame, movie or whatever, it has to be taken litteraly by consumers... If you go and watch Kill Bill it means you will have/want to kill everybody named Bill?? A litter to far there but you get the point.

By the way, MaxDam, I didn't know that thing about "Montero". Some days ago I saw a Mitsubishi Pajero in the streets, seriously, I thought the owner put that name in just to fool around! He, he. That is why is always good to be documented.

Well, I live in Quebec, you know french canadians. The official langage here is french , but I really hope they won't change the name in our province also cuz' I find that pretty lame. I mean, we speak both French and English in here, and we're not stupid enough to think that the game won't be good because it is called Deception. I think it's because of a historical event in France that was called "the big deception " or something and it's not a good memory for them. Please Midway, don't change the name for Quebec, we're bilingual for god's sake!!!

With all the talk of there being a negative connotation in Spanish, it seems eveyone's forgotten Boon knows fluent Spanish. Bo Rai Cho = Borracho, drunkard. A lot of the gibberish in MK4 was Spanish, too.

If there's an inconsistency translating Deception to Spanish, believe me they already know about it and we'd probably have heard something by now.

hmm think that they changed deception to mystification is because.. hmm.. i don't know.... frace is deceptiony... hmm... allwell... us hispanic people don't mind.. because we don't get our hopes up.. and plus.. i think deception dosn't really translates to dissapointment.. its kinda like saying... hmm.. sad more rather... but then... the lingo here is diffrent..

It's lame to think realy, but at the end of the day it all boils down to Politics.. and thats a lame excuse in my opinion.

Yes, that's right. Since you mentioned that it would be important to point that Boon's parents live in the Dominican Republic, he comes once in a while to visit. Altough I don't know if he's from here or they just live here. He's "spanish decendant" some one told me before.
