If you unlock the Baraka/Mileena MK Gold renders, it says that Baraka survived Kung Lao's fatality and got his body stapled together. That explains the giant metal pieces in his torso. He can take it.

1) Boon says that no one really dies in Mortal Kombat so we kinda have to take his word since he's the the co-creator, he says that I think in one of the trading card videos.
and
2) Cause Goro's a cheap little bitch...lol J/M with you haha
Goros cool since he was like the very first sub-boss.

that ending wasn't true.

In every MK there are endings that are taken as "True Endings", that means they did come to pass in the main story. And "Fake Endings" or whatever, meaning they are not taken for the main story; as if the never happened. Anyway, even though a character dies in a "True Ending" doesn't mean it's completely dead. Remember Mileena?, they ending took from the MK was that Kitana killed Mileena...but now she returned. If they want to, they will ALWAYS have a way of bringing a character back. Another example of a character being killed multiple times is Scorpion...and he comes back everytime.

Baraka's MKGold ending also had Quan Chi say Raiden and the Elder Gods were dead, and he had conquered the realms. Some endings just don't happen.
Baraka had done this one thing time after time, he always fled from battle. Baraka is not loyal to any master. Baraka was under Shao Kahn's command, then he moved to Quan Chi and Shinnok's command, and now he moved to Onaga's command.
Baraka knows if he is on the winning and loosing side of a battle and he only cares about his own people, the Tarkatan. In Mortal Kombat 2, Baraka relized that because he failed in defeating a mortal in the tournament he would be executed. After his match he escaped into the wastelands with his life.
In Mortal Kombat 4/Gold I bet Baraka relized the same thing. As soon as Shinnok was decieved by Quan Chi Baraka must have feared Quan Chi and departed again from another commander's rule.
So, during the events of Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, Baraka may have been living with his own people in the Outworld and watched everything that was going on. Some of the Tarkatan may have even joined the Deadly Alliance in an attempt to appease them so that they have a place to live when they take over everything.

You have got to remember one thing, nothing is set in stone until the next game is released. In MK, endings serve mainly to give different scenarios or different directions the story can go, also endings often contradict eachother so that should be a clue as to the fact that not all endings apply but only give a glimpse into what may have occurred had that character succeeded in his/her mission or what may happen to that character.
More than likely, Goro may yet return in a future MK game. We just have to wait and see.
Scorpion's been killed a multitude of times, but is a spectre so he *always* comes back. Cage was killed, and came back. Mileena was killed and came back. Liu Kang was killed, and still seems to be floating around.
Hell, I'm pretty sure every character that has ever been in an MK series is somehow seen in Deception. Just goes to show you can't kill off good characters *permanantly*. (though I wish some were *cough*Stryker*cough*)
