Kriss is a strange-looking 'twisted' sword used by Ashrah. It wouldn't surprise me if she named it Kriss (a bit like every weapon in Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur 2).

actually, if you look at more recent in-game pics you will see that they've changed the name of her weapon into Morning Star.

A Kriss is a type of blade. It's like a serpentine blade. There are many curves in it. The purpose of this type of blade is this: If you plunge it into somebody, it is nearly impossible to pull out. If you do manage to pull it out, it will only open the would wider.

Yes, like cpleck said, a kriss is a short sword from Indonesia with many curves in it. A kriss is usually about 18 inches.
