Is it just me, or dose anyone else think that the Hari Karis are stupid?

Not to (purposely) insult anyone. I know that some people mention some time ago that they wanted these, but, I've always thought that it was a bad idea. I am just curious...because, I'd personally rather see Mercy's than suicides...I persoanlly think that they're more strategic.

I won't go so far as to say that they're stupid, because we haven't seen them yet. However I don't like the idea of having to rush against another player whose gonna suicide himself instead of you performing the fatality on him. If that's how its gonna be, then I would hope that the Hari Kari moves are complex...as in having alot of motions, maybe double the amount of button taps that fatalities normally have.

I made I mistake by saying mercy. A mercy is when your opponent does'nt kill you, but gives you a chance to regain your energy...similar to a frienship, but, you have an opportunity to kill them, instead...that is, if you can do the button combinations fast enough to RECOVER (which is what I meant to say). Like the Hari Kari, it is about the fastes finger

I like the idea. It makes the end of the match a mini game in itself.
Aye, I definately agree on this point. It should be more difficult to pull off.
But, I do like the idea. I can already imagine how mad I'm going to get when someone denies me the satisfaction of a fatality. I'll just strive harder to get the fatality next time. I work on gameplay to defeat my opponents, now, it looks like I'll have to work on fatalities to top off the win.
To me, it brings more depth to the game, and I'll have to actually think about the fatal during the match because I can't afford a brainfart at the end. Then if I lose, I already thought about the winning fatal, so, I probably won't get the suicide. Therefor, both will have to be kept in mind. Kind of cool I think.

i like the idea but,
do you have to do a fatality, or can you punch/kick your opponent to win???

I could care less about them... I could care less about fatalities too at this point. I'm all about the gameplay now!

| calibus_ Wrote: Why would you want to kill yourself, anyway? I thought the idea of a fighting game was trying to stay alive. |
The idea is that you have already lost. The suicide can only be performed once you are defeated and it says Finish Him/Her.(not any time during the match). The definition of hara kiri is floating around somewhere in this forum, and it is considered an honorable death for a samarui who can not win, betrayed a master, etc.

that's what fighting games are about: DON'T LET THE OTHER GUY WIN! in this case, if you lose a match to mileena, that means not only did you get your ass kicked, but now she gets to kill you. the hari kari is kinda like using your last bit of dignity to deprive her of the satisfaction of kicking your ass AND getting to kill you.
on the other hand, if YOU kick someone's ass, it's up to you to perform the fatality fast enough to fully satisfy your win.
i like the idea.

gameplay.. thats what they focused on in MKDA... and then everyone bitched about that... if they focus on awesome stuff and fatalities, people bitch bout the gameplay sucking, then if they focus on gameplay, like in DA, people bitch bout the fatalities sucking and there not being enough fatalities...you people are never satisfied, also, they havent even released MKD, and now you guys are already talking bout how MK7 will be... man, you guys are really rushing the MK team

The Hari Kari will be something new to MK. It will be a new touch, and its good to experiment new things. We all got to see how animalities and brutalities were like, and most of us didnt like it. I'll give it a chance, right now, it sounds pretty cool to me, i cant wait to see how it will look like. I like seeing different things in MK, hopefully this will be a good add-on.

I think Hari Kari's will be an excellent addition to MK. So far, The HK's sound ridiculously sweet! Hopefully they'll be so much better than the animalities, friendships, babalities and brutalities in MK3, MK:Trilogy. WE'll see when the game comes out.
Peace Out

I never did like the brutalities or animalities.
Babalities were funny at first, but wouldn't want to see them again I don't think.
I liked the friendships though. There were a nice touch, and i wouldn't mind seeing them again at some stage.
Hari Kari's are a nice new touch to the game.
But i think the challenge of being able to perform them should be set.
Maybe something like MK2 to perform a Friendship you weren't allowed to block at all in that round. Something like that to be able to perform the Hari Kari

If that were the case, then you would almost be trying to lose if you have to anticipate it that much. I'd rather just win the round than focus on not using certain buttons so I could kill myself when I lose. But to answer the main question, I do like the idea. If you suck at the gameplay, you can be a suicide master. Then you'll at least be good at killing yourself.

I think the hari-kari moves will be good.Picture you winning the match and then you see the CPU killing theirself.I can do my evil Shao Kahn laugh when that happens.

I'm still sceptical about these. On one hand theres the plus side where you take away your opponents win. On the negative, they take yours away.
I'm going to wait and see how these are implemented into the game. All I know is, NO ONE is stealing my victory from me!!!

the hari kari is an excellent idea adds a new touch of violence to the game. who knows it might not be all that but be we wont know untill the game comes out. not to be a smart ass or anything but if you dont like change or knew ideas then stick with MK1 bottom line dont knock it untill you've tried it

I love the idea of suicidez. If you are beaten by someone who doesn't know their fatalz, you can kill yourself. It'z an opportunoty for more blood & gutz. when you've got nothing left to lose... death bloOmz
