That's incorrect, the facial structures are very detailed in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, and you can plainly see certain people's ethnicities.

I'm so tired of this argument coming up every couple ofonths. Jade is not black for Christ's sake. I'm not saying she's white, hell, Kitana isn't even white imo (Judging by MKDA she's latina) but Jade isn't black. That's all there is too it. Cyrax is black, Jax is black, Kai is black. But Jade is not.

saibotruler Wrote:
The term "black" is used to describe people of African/ African-American decent. These people generally have certain facial features, as do most European ethnicities. You can tell a British person is a british person by certain characteristics; certain eye shape, nose shape, lip shape.

You cannot deny that these features occur in most all blacks; I'm not being racist, I'm stating a fact; what you're basically saying is the equivalent of saying Norwegians don't have blonde hair; it's just what is, it's neither bad nor good, it just is.

Most women who don't have these features are mulatto, which means they are half-white. Jade's features in the past few games, considering she was a pallatte swap of Kitana are that of a WHITE person. That is not to say Jade is white, but she is certainly not black either.

By your definition, an Albino of african american decent isn't a black person, which would be a falacy to say the least.

Anyway, black isn't used to describe a skin color, but people of a certain ancestory. To say people of a certain ancestory don't share genetic traits is incorrect, and Jade does not share those traits.

You still don't get what I'm saying. They're not doing facial traits that detailed in this game. Actually, no fighting game so far has been that complex. I do know that in real life people of different races have traits that other don't, but they aren't making the models according to real life. So to try to say that just because she doesn't have the bone structure in her face of a black woman...so therefore she's not black is stupid and moot.

So yes, Jade's complexion is different than that of a black person's.

What in God's name....have you ever seen a black person in your life!?!?

Are you trying to tell me that black people don't have the same complextion of Jade in that screenshot and Jade from that link I gave a few posts up? Oh by the way, skin tone and complextion is the same thing...just for future referance ;)

Atleast back it up. See this is what I hate about the Jade being black argument. I give an argument with valid criticisms, and you just go "Jade's black dammit!" what does that prove? Nothing.

Learn how to argue like an adult and I will get back to you.

She always had a dark skin tone, FAR darker than kitana and mileena, and she still has it in the pic against Kabal, BUT in piuzzle kombat she looks whiter.
And people, don't even try to get into the whole etnicities.. they where vaguely made by people... there are no specific lines between White, Black, Asian, etc.

I like Kitana's new look, though the only reason they changed her model up a bit was to make her feel more like the woman who played Kitana in the movie...who is mixed with Puerto Rican or something.

Oh, and you can add Tanya to your list of black characters too. Just wait for Deception to come out, it'll put this moot argument to rest. I mean it's so obvious.

Also you people are forgetting one important thing. The terms caucasian, african, asian, latina, arabic etc apply to human beings (homosapiens)only.

Although they look like humans, we have no proof that Jade, a being from a different dimension where people live 250 times as long as people on our world, is actually a human being.

I did have Tanya listed, but now she looks extremely white from the pictures we've seen.

I agree. There is no genotype differance between blacks, white, asians, etc. Well there is, but it's less than 1% and very unimportant and irrelevant. But when you're talking about phenotype...there is!

Blah blah blah blah blah blah. Jade is neither black nor white. Possibly both (as in mulatto, which would explain the feature/ skin color descrepancy) but she isn't a 100% black. I'm sorry, I don't care what insight you think you have, your argument is based on personal feeling and not fact.

Jade was played by a white person in UMK3, true or false? True of course. There for to say that Jade is inherantly african is to overlook the truth.

Besides, it doesn't matter. Like I said, black and white and asian and indian are terms used to describe Earth-born human beings; Edenians probably have a whole slew of different Ethnicities. We have no proof that Edenians are even human beings.

Yea, because Edenians aren't real duh! So therefore we have to compare them to humans. If you took that cloth from around Jade's mouth and threw her on Earth, people would think she were black.

Well, if you want to look at it that way, because Edenians aren't real, Jade isn't real, and thus has no real ethnicity, and thus ISN'T BLACK.

saibotruler, complexion isn't something up for debate. Her's is clearly not black. If you can't see that, then I don't know how to explain that any better.

If you paint Johnny Cage black, he'll still look white. If you paint Cyrax's face a white tone, he'll still look black. Jade could pass for Indian maybe, but definitely not African.

You keep saying if you paint someone black, they would still look like they used to...I know this. But you can't paint Jade black because he skin color is already dark brown. Why can't you see this?

I still think that Jade is supposed to be black and there's some graphics artist at Midway reading this and laughing at us for even wondering which ethnicity she is. I see the point about Edenians not having a race as well... but you KNOW that the idea of her being black or white or asian or WHATEVER she is, IS there.. otherwise that's like saying that just because shes from Edenia then shes not human so she doesnt have an ethnicity so she doesn't even have real boobs with real nipples or a real vagina so hell JADES NOT EVEN A FEMALE!

j/k.... She's totally black.

Dark skin color doesn't imply that she's black. There numerous ethnic backrounds with that tone. To be honest, she doesn't even look that dark in the Kabal pic.

African, Latino, Italian, WHATEVER! This is Mortal Kombat, this is a f*cking video game. Hence if anyone needs to actually get technical here, Jade would be Edenian I believe, meaning we don't know shit about it, so drop the subject already.
