I don't hate Sonya (and I am a Kitana fan). In fact, I'd rather have Sonya in Deception than Tanya. But her story has grown old and redundant, and for that matter so has Kitana's. Both need a remodel.

It would be interesting if Boon somehow intertwined their storylines, making them either friends or bitter rivals. As near as I can tell, there has never been any kind of interaction between them except for the fact that they are both nominees for the "Lead Forces of Light Female" award.

But its pretty obvious who is the best.

Who gets better and better by each game.

Who evolves in power.

Who has been around longer.

Who has better fatalities.

Who has better specials.

Sonya's most likely not dead. I don't foresee her dying anytime soon either.

The Kitana/Sonya fan war is a nasty one indeed. It's likely to get even more heated with the rumors of Kitana's coming demise.
I frankly find the feud amusing. And like or hate Sonya and/or Kitana they at least garner a reaction.

I personally always found Kitana superior to Sonya in about every way. Some of my reasons are strictly opinion; others I can back up with facts.

Although I don't like Sonya, I honestly don't hate her. She has some good points, although I never liked using her, she is reasonably powerful and I believe her to be the third deepest character in Mortal Kombat.
However, her story has been consistently lackluster and nothing about her has really garnered my attention or support. She is terribly overrated as well. Although I don't think it's fair to disregard a character because of his or her fans, it can be incredibly irritating.

I honestly don't care if Sonya lives or dies, however I believe if Kitana dies in Deception, Sonya should too. Why is Sonya placed on an untouchable pedestal while Kitana, who is just a popular, gets needlessly sacrificed to the gods of cheap shock value?

She's better than a lot of the existing MK characters! All she needs is a story revamp which MKD could give her!

I'm happy she is out of the picture for now...never really liked her except in the first mk movie where she raps her legs around kano upside down.

Who has been around longer. -Technically .. each games finished product had kitana and sonya in.. except for mk 1 and mk2..

Who has better fatalities. -Well not true here both were good in their first games.. after that both fatals got repetitive.. her mkda fatal was almost like jax’s.. boring!!

Who has better specials.- Kitana does..kitana moves are better at combos.. fan wave, kick, fan ,air punch.. 3 moves in a combo. No need for a dial a combo like Sonya..

I agree with this also. Sonyas story is SO boring, its ridiculous. Even i cant believe shes still in and not dead yet. Kitana, Mileena, and Jade all own Sonya in everyway possible. Not only are there special moves better, but there fatalities make hers look absolutely LAME.

IMO Sonya is a NOBODY and she'll never ever be deeply involved in MK since the Special Forces are all flat-out useless. I pray they get rid of Sonya, she has no potential. I'm personally both a Sonya and Kitana fan. I almost like them both equally. ^.^ I don't see why fans of one have to hate the other, that's dumb.

Maybe this is because I roleplay Sonya and my friend plays Kitana [ call me a dork if you wish, I could care less. ;P ].. but we have found a way to merge these characters so they are friends and it works. Me, her and others joke all the time that Midway should come to us for ideas. In our story Sonya is helping Kitana lead her forces for the oncoming threat of the Dragon King. For our little group it works, but other people would be like "the hell??"

They seriously need to revamp a LOT of stories, not just Sonya's and give some of these characters a reason to bond. It almost seems like the writers are neglecting individual storylines in order to work on the game's story as a whole, but maybe that's just me.

Sonya won’t die anytime soon. i don’t see her going anywhere for a very long time. She has lots of fans as a huge support, and there is no doubt she is the best of the females.

What surprises me though, is to see people complain about her story, making it the reason why she should leave the games when in fact, we have a bunch of worst stories. Characters that should be killed for good (if based on stories) are Kitana, Johnny Cage and Jax.

But of all those, kitana is the one who should just go for good. Her character overall is just a waste, and her story has been put into shame by other females with greater potential such as Mileena, Sindel and Jade and of course, Sonya.

mk2- kitana, she was good. and no sonya to play.

mk3- sonya again, top tier, thanks God, no kitana huh?.

mku/t- shit, they added the -last option- waste of space character, and still, she sucked.Sonya owns her.

mk4- No kitana again...interesting. Sonya-top tier

mkg- again as a last option, and she looked so unoriginal. Sonya owns her.

And in terms of looks, sonya keeps changing, outfits and style, kitana stays stale and boring, a pallet-swap!

Same as no 2. Sonya obviously. kitana was only good in mk2. she was terrible in the others.

mk1-sonya

mk3-sonya
mk4-sonya
mk5-sonya and kitana

mku/t/g- they added kitana as a last option.

Not only did kitana took the original "kiss of death" signature, but she made it a joke! it was lame in mk2,it was aweful in mku/t and mkg, and it was the worst fatality ever in mk5.

sonya on the other hand, changes, and its always great, and she had a new cool fatality in mk3 and mk4.

Who has better specials.

if you say kitana....you are a fanboy. her fanthrow was only good in mk2 and mku. other thenthat. she stole the wavepunch (bitch! ) and the fanlift sucks. in mk5, she was terrible!

I agree, She is A NOBODY. I dont think she fits in the MK world.

god i sure hope she is dead, she was good in mk1 and mk3 but we have no need for her now, and she sucks. Due to her poor performance on deadly alliance, she should rot and die by the hands of noob saibot, for some odd reason.. Her time is up she should be gone for good, me, and alot of other plp would be very very greatfull for this.
