Armageddon isn't worse than Deception. In my perspective it was quite better than Deception.

But I thought it was just an overrated game and that the special features that was in the game turned out to be a disappointment.

But Armageddon is way better than Deception, you put that $7 to good use.

I didn't think it was worse than Deception.

It was probably a bigger let down than Deception (No bios etc.)

Deception is better.

Armageddon's arenas are better, the music is annoying, the roster: quantity over quality, and the gameplay is pure slop. The wake-ups are the only useful new inclusion.

Armageddon's replay value came only from the Create-A-Fighter mode.

Deception however, had lots of finishers to perform, a long-lasting adventure mode if you like exploring, better unlockables, and better mini-games. Plus it featured the darkest atmosphere an MK game has ever had, slightly better graphics, and better arenas.

Armageddon's arenas > Deception's arenas? Yes.
Annoying music? Meh, it can get a bit abrasive, but really only in Konquest.
Quantity over quality? I fail to see how having 60+ characters detracts from the quality of the game, but whatever.
Gameplay: Kreate-a-Fatality is crap, but I enjoy the rest. Air Kombat is a nice novelty. Just don't bother with online.
The wakeups are a good idea, but not the only worthwhile addition.

Armageddon's replay value came only from the Create-A-Fighter mode.

Clearly you didn't spend much time with the game. KAK sucks. Part of the real replay value of the game is the ability to match up any two characters that have ever existed in the Mortal Kombat universe. I still hate that Khameleon was Wii only, but again, I've learned to deal. The other part of Armageddon's replay lies in obtaining all the endings and the rewarding feeling that one gets when they master each character.

Deception however, had lots of finishers to perform, a long-lasting adventure mode if you like exploring, better unlockables, and better mini-games. Plus it featured the darkest atmosphere an MK game has ever had, slightly better graphics, and better arenas.

Yet there are infinite possibilities with KAF, flawed as it is. Konquest in MKD wasn't any longer than in MKA, four hours, tops. And if you want to talk about unlockables, MKDA destroys both games.

If you think MKD is the darkest atmosphere for an MK game, go play MK2, then talk to me. Finally, you said at the top that MKA's arenas are better, but here you say the opposite. Huh? Proofreading is your friend, or at least make up your mind.

Konquest - Deception had a better storyline, with a slightly better character, and it was more in-depth, longer and just overall better.

Characters - While Armageddon had the bigger roster, the uniforms of some of them were just shit (Rain, Scorpion's MK4 uniform, etc). Deception has a good enough roster with some great costumes (Scorpion's best if you ask me), and the characters had 2 styles and a weapon style.

Engine - Deception's fighting engine seemed better in my opinion. Some of the combos from Deception were broken in Armageddon due to the air-kombat system (instead of ending a combo with 3 juggle attacks, they would just jump up and throw them - which I hated).

Mini-games - Deception has Chess, which was pretty fun, while Armageddon has Mario Kart, which I found crap.

Fatalities - Deception actually has them! Armageddon has that create-a-fatality thing which should have been used for KAK (Kreate-a-Kharacter) ONLY!! Every dev-made character should have had 2 unique fatalities, problem is.... they had too many characters.

In all honesty I found Armageddon's engine to be a broken version of Deceptions. The only good thing about Armageddon was the KAK and the fact you could play as any character from MK's history. If you can only afford one then I suggest Deception, but I recommend getting both and desiding for yourself.

my comparison is that mka had bogus fatalities i felt they got lazy plus there should never been an armagedon yet.mkd good fatalities. overall fighting mkd did it well with the combos really explosive.mka did okay also but i also hate jumping in the air when im doing a combo either.overall mkd should be it

You got ripped off, you could have got it from amazon.co.uk for half the price and helped out the UK economy a little too.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Midway-Games-Ltd-Mortal-Armageddon/dp/B000F3RUNC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s;=videogames&qid;=1239684429&sr;=8-1

Not to mention it would be a PAL version from amazon.co.uk

Yeah it's better. Same characters, slightly better gameplay (wake-ups pretty much do it) and better arenas/konquest mode. Plus the novelty of having so many characters, even if 90% are superfluous.

You'll get tonnes more shits and giggles out of Armageddon than MK:Disappointment
KAK is a novelty that wears off quickly though

They're different games.

If you want to kreate a fighter, play motor kombat, do custom fatalities, choose any character ever, just mess around with as much features as possible and have some adventure-gameplay fun with Konquest, Armageddon is your game.

For better gameplay with less characters, but puzzle kombat and chess kombat, cooler endings, better story and a fun cheesy MK world to explore with Konquest, get deception.

I can't say which one is better.

I got the bundle with MK:D,MKSM,and MKA and I've been playing MKA out of all of em.You can choose any player from the series and shit whats the letdown of that.Wow there are some levels in Deception that are better than Armageddon but so what.Every game is going to have it's own strong points or else it wouldn't stick out from the rest of the series.I do enjoy the Kreate A kombatant but they should have left the Kreate a fatality for the player made characters since I do miss each characters individual signature or new fatalities.I was hoping to see what scorpions new one was and the fact u make your own kinda was a letdown. So yea Deception has it's strong point and armageddon has it's letdowns but hands down armageddon is the better one.furious

i'd say that Armageddon was better only by a little bit. The Kreate-A-Fatality mode was ok....much rather have the individual characters fatalities but its cool to rip off arms and beat the opponent with it and pretty much dissect them. The motor kombat is alright, more like a Mario Kart thing except mk style. Kreate-A-Figher is pretty cool, but it needed more combos you could do. The storyline, i thought, was pretty good, thought they could of used more characters and made it slightly longer. The costumes of each character was pretty good, and if you didn't like the costume, then you could just go on to Kreate-A-Fighter and redesign the person and give them almost similar special attacks

Puzzle Kombat and Chess Kombat I sort of miss, chess more than puzzle. They were time killers.
Overall i think that MK:A was pretty good and MK:D was pretty good too, just not entirely packed with the extras

The only thing Armageddon has going for it is the 64 character roster! Other than that, its not worth it honestly. Deception is the better game.

MKD is better.

The only thing that is best about MKA is the roster, the Air Kombat, and K-A-K, which was okay but needed more to it.

MKD has a great Konquest mode (it is better than MK:DA's Konquest mode). Traveling around realms was the best part. All I knew about was Earthrealm, Outworld, and Edenia. I didn't even know about the other three (Chaosrealm, Netherrealm, and Orderrealm (the worst of the 6).

I like MKA more than Deception in some respects. The addition of Parrying was pretty much the best thing they could have done, it helped with guessing games (is he going to use a breaker when I start the combo or parry?), and the wakeups were a welcome addition, too.

Pretty much every other aspect, though, Deception fucking smashes Armageddon.

There is some confusion as to the storyline of how Mortal Kombat Deception lead to Armageddon. In the end of Mortal Kombat Deception there is pratically no referrence to the later installment. However, if you have played Mortal Kombat Unchained (PSP version of Deception), and you played and beat the game as Blaze, you see how everyone comes together for that "war" in the beginning of Armageddon. Blaze lures all the warriors to a single place, and tells them whoever defeats him will obtain god-like powers, which is why everyone battles each other. I hope this has answered atleast a few questions for some

I like Armageddon alot more than Deception, Deception is decent but I always thought the 3 fighting styles were just a mess and made the game feel convoluted.

With MKA the fighting is stream lined and having only 2 styles made things alot easier and combat a bit faster. I also like air combat alot and hope it returns in MK9(probly wont).

I have a few gripes with MKA because Midway just wasted space. I hated both konquest modes in Deception and Armageddon, they suck. I also hated Chess Kombat, Motor Kombat and Puzzle Kombat. IMO MKA should of had more arenas to fill the disk space instead of crappy modes.

Also I wish they had Scorpions flaming skull costume from DA and Sub Zero's bald, pony tail look from Deception. They should of also added Khameleon, DA Blaze and Tremor to the roster as a bonus.

Also they didnt give us unique fatalities. I understand maybe not being able to give each character 2 or 3 but they could of at least squeezed in one each instead of useless crap like Konquest or Motor Kombat.

And even if they didnt want to create new ones, they could of just used old fatalies from past games.

From what aspect would you deem it? If it were for the intro movie, number of characters, powers of combatants in general, and opportunity to freely choose big shokans, Motaro and Shao Kahn, then MKA wins no doubt. If, then again, it were for the overall originality (of combatants, storyline, and all...), and the "order and quality > mess and quantity" tone, then I go with MKD.

Subjectively, I'd say that MKA wins over MKD for just a little bit. It has some historical grandness within, being the very last showing up of 80% of combatants.
