Don't agree... if that was the case, why would the hint for Catwoman have been "Sexy Villainess" (when technically, she's not really) instead of something else? Same with the other descriptions (Ninja Villain etc..) Of course Alignment plays a part... to a degree. Not saying it's EVERYTHING that decides counterparts, but it's certainly not the case that it "has nothing to do with it."

Maybe Sonya was turned into a villain for this game? Ever think of that? It would make about as much sense.

The render of Kitana had her placed in the idyllic background of Edenia...which would denote she will be playing her regular role as the realm's heroic defender.

I very much doubt they'll throw Kitana's character into the air and twist her story about merely so she can have some non-sensical parallel to another character.

Ok, I get that... but still, besides being Sexy females... what similarities do Catwoman and Kitana share? (Besides the dark hair. Also remembering the fact that when we were first introduced to Kitana in the MK 2 game, she was already turning on Kahn and siding with the Earth Realm warriors. So we never really saw her as the "evil bad girl". That didn't get a deeper look until the comics.) There is nothing that I can see that is similar between the two.

Kitana has more in common with Wonder Woman, IMO.


Besides that... As was stated by XiahouDun.. I highly doubt they're going to make Kitana evil for this game. It would be stupid. Also, her background is a dead give away that this game obviously takes place AFTER Edenia was restored. Hence Kitana would be on the side of good.

Until all of the characters are announced, we can't really decide who is going to be whose parallel, assuming EVERY character has a parallel. They may not. No one knows at this point.

Isn't MK vs. DC after Mortal Kombat 2? (even if it isn't canon and whatnot)

People contradicting themselves like this should probably stop, digest the second part of the statement, and accept that the game doesn't count and therefore does not slot into any part of the MK timeline.

Design aside; they've done reasonably well at avoiding doubling up on characters who are very similar. As much as it might be nice to have another villain, here's hoping it isn't Mileena that breaks the trend.

It's probably worth remembering the big bads of the game haven't been revealed, and at the end of the day, that's really the only evil you need in a ladder game.

The game takes place in a alternate universe of mk,and it fits within the MK2-MK3 storyline.So anything here is not going to be after MKDA-MKA.
So to those ppl who say,how can this fit within mk2 and 3.Well again,its a alternate version of the mk universe and they can do whatever they want with it. So to those who wanted quan chi and whatnot.I guess it could happen since his story really took place in MKMSZ which was before mk4.

the MK2-MK3 thing is meant as more of a frame of reference i think. it's not to be taken literally.

but i totally and fully believe that the people writing the story would make a character a villian out of nowhere at all. i wouldn't put it past anyone at midway.

but i think kitana is meant to be a hero still, like XiahouDun84 kitana's background seems to be edenia, if she was a villian she'd probably have an outworld background like shang tsung or at the very least something more menacing.

it was said the stroy is not canon the the fighters bio's and backrounds are it was said it was affter mk2 true that the game is not canon but every thing that took place before the game is very much canon so in this game kitana and/or sonya will be good but the game is not canon so they could change to villain's later on in story ect but then it would be a one time deal more then likely and be good or bad has nothing to do with a counterpart

I cant really say I believe Kitana will be evil, and I predict in this story the good and bad guys from MK will have to team up against Dc anyway so it wouldnt really matter,

on that regard I think it would be really cool to have mileena in the game and have her and Kitana have to work togerher for once,
on the whole I think Mileena would fit this game much better then Kitana, but..as it stands she prob won ́t make the cut,

im interested to see the interaction between kano and sonya however, in that they will have to team up together as well...still, would have prefered kitana and mileena

While I do agree with the point you made about the Edenian background, and how she is in no way going to be evil, I have to say that you're either underestimating the MK team's idiocy, or overestimating their common sense.

And perhaps it's naive of me, but I would like to think that...by some freak chance...they decided to make Kitana into a villain for this game, it would be a better reason than merely because they want her to parallel one of the DC characters.
