Well, it's kind of a dumb idea now that I think about it but... Here it goes. The story starts off right at the point where Shang Tsung is in the process of removing her soul like in her ending, I'll write it like a little fanfic too.

Li Mei fell to her knees as she held her stomach which had been slashed by Shang Tsung's sword in a suprise attack. The bright light from the soul-nado in Shang Tsung's Palace, which Li Mei's people had constructed, forced her to close her eyes.
Shang Tsung smiled as he put away his sword, he then looked at Quan Chi whom was standing behind Li Mei, "Your plan worked out after all." Quan Chi nodded his head slightly, "Of course... We should hurry this up, I don't want any mistakes." Shang Tsung rubbed his chin as he looked at the badly wounded Li Mei, "You can go take care of that business between Mavado and Kano if you want to. I think I can manage this." Quan Chi turned to the side slowly, "Hurry along, the fight between those two will prove entertaining, I'm sure." With that, Quan Chi walked away his shoes making clicking sounds on the stone floor of the palace.
Shang Tsung watched Quan Chi leave before he turned his attention to Li Mei. He walked over to her and gently brushed a loose strand of her hair behind her left ear, "You have a decision to make... I'll allow you to live in exchange for your loyalty among other things, when I get rid of that cretin Quan Chi... What say you?" Li Mei opened her eyes slowly and then spat on Shang Tsung's robe, "How... How dare you... You enslave my people and... And you expect me to help you...!?"
Shang Tsung narrowed his eyes and slapped her across the face, "A poor decision that I'm afraid you won't live to regret. Too bad, it's always sad to see beauty with no brains yet again."
Green energy formed around Shang Tsung's hand as he began a soft incantation. Li Mei cried out as her very soul began to be ripped right from her body. An experience that was about as painful as having a major organ removed...
It was then over.
Li Mei's lifeless body crumpled to the floor as Shang Tsung held her very soul in the air, preparing not to put it into the body of an undead soldier but to take it for himself. After all, with the soul of such a strong fighter it'd be all the easier to take down Quan Chi in hand to hand combat. But before he could consume her soul, a sharp bladed object suddenly slammed into the middle of his back. Shang Tsung roared in pain and released his control over Li Mei's soul. As he fell to the ground, a second soul flew from the open wound on his back. The two souls flew into Li Mei's lifeless body at the same time, bringing her back to life though she was still unconscious.
Shang Tsung rolled about on the floor before he got the strength to face this unseen threat... He was surprised to see that the bladed object that had struck him was a hat with a bladed rim. He looked into the distance and sure enough, there stood Kung Lao along with his new instructor, Bo Rai Cho.
Kung Lao narrowed his eyes as he pointed at Shang Tsung, "You will *pay* for what you've done, sorcerer! Your sins end now...!" Kung Lao ran a full speed towards Shang Tsung...
Li Mei moaned softly as she opened her eyes, she blinked a few times as she found Kung Lao and Bo Rai Cho standing over her. She gasped slightly, "Shang Tsung..!?" Kung Lao smiled a bit and nodded his head, "Dead." Li Mei then rubbed her eyes for a moment as for some reason she recognized the two men, "Master...! Kung Lao!!" Kung Lao quirked an eyebrow, "How does she know who we are?!" Li Mei blinked her eyes with confusion, "It's me! Don't you recognize me?!" Kung Lao tilted his head slightly, "No... I'm sorry, I don't..."
Bo Rai Cho spoke softly, "Liu..."
Kung Lao looked at his master with a stunned looke, "Liu Kang?! But how!?" Bo Rai Cho frowned slightly as he examined Li Mei, "Didn't you see when you attacked him? This girl's soul went back into her body at the same time as a second one that came out of Shang Tsung. She has two souls, her original one and now Liu Kang's. Incredible, I've never seen anything like this in my entire life."
Li Mei looked around and then looked down at her body before fainting. Kung Lao gently picked her up from off the ground and cradled her in his arms, "What now?" Bo Rai Cho thought for a moment, "I don't know, let's leave, rest and regroup. We need to think of the best way to finish our task with this new complication."
