Pre-MKDA
Probably Liu. I like the idea of Shang getting whooped as he was trying to gt Liu Kang arrogant. I think Tsung could have done a bit more to Kang, but The Shaolin monk would have probably won.

Post-MKDA
Shang hands down. After consuming all those souls from the Soulnado, and possibly Liu Kang's itself? Shang Tsung would be stronger now than ever before. It's really something good about his story, he absorbs souls, and becomes stronger. He can be a normal fighter, or the best character in a game.

Actually he did take Liu's soul after killing him. I don't know, you make a good point, but I still think (if he were still alive and had his soul lol) that Liu would win out in the end. Not saying it would be an easy fight for him to win, but I think he could.

I was reffering to the games. Not the movie.

In the Movie Liu only beat Kahn because the elders made it an even fight right after they had their animalities duke it out.

wrong Liu Kang won MK1, Shao Kahn won MK2, Raiden won MK3/UMK3, and Quan Chi won MK4 that's why Quan has the amulet from Shinnok.

What's wrong with this picture? Everyone's saying Liu Kang...awe helll nah! Shang Tsung has never been at full strength, MK1 he's old and hadn't fought for awhile, let Goro do the work. And from then on Shao Kahn never gave Shang his full strength back. You put Shang Tsung when he was champion of Mortal Kombat (before the original Kung Lao defeated him) against Lui Kang and his soul would be gone quicker than it take you to read this! Of course my oppinion is no where based on fact, but hell think about it. Liu was just an annoying lil beetch that got lucky and favored by gods. (My oppinion is in no way biased, forget who you see in my sig or meaning behind my name!)grin

If Liu Kang could kick Shang Tsung's butt 11 years ago, there's no reason he couldn't beat him now. Unless Shang's REALLY powerful now.

Its not even a question that Liu Kang beats Shang Tsung, he beat Shang Tsung in the original Mortal Kombat tournament and he opened up a can on Shang Tsung in the opening MKDA video.

Kang can't beat Tsung one-on-one it's impossible. He was letting him win in the intro so don't get excited.

Kahn didn't win MK2. Earth realm warriors managed to escape Outworld before being annilated by Kahn's endless armies

MK3, All of earth's forces tok part in Kahn's defeat

Quan Chi didn't win MK4 because he was getting butchered by Scorpion.
