Would you rather have PS2 lobby XBL's friend's list.
With PS2 lobby you get the following:
A common room where everyone can meet and type with their controllers.
Pros
1. You can see everyone
2. You can say hi to everyone
Cons
1. You can't see who's online whilst you're in a match
2. You can't just host a match for friends only
3. Most of the people in the lobby are all new because everyone has millions of accounts
-----------------
Now over to XBL friend's list...
Pros:
1. You can have your set of friends and only host matches for them
2. A KAK whore for example can't setup a fast account because it ain't free!
3. You can send folks invites to join your game even when they're in the middle of another battle.
Cons:
1. You can't chat with everyone all at once
2. It's not that easy for you to be a rank whore by have millions of accounts (well, this is a pro for most people but we have to be fair to KAK users)

Conclusion

Well, this is tricky cuz you're asking a somewhat vague question that I can only answer with a mixed opinion...
If you're asking about the set up of either a Lobby System or a Friend's List System, that's one thing. But if we're talking about the current "PS2" Lobby and the "Xbox" Friend's List, that's another thing.
I love the idea of the Lobby on PS2. You can see everybody that's online (kind of like a constant Opti-Match) and you can talk to any and everybody in there. But, then there's the fact that on PS2 everybody has so many accounts that at any give time you'll only recognize 1-5 names out of 25. That kind of anonimity leads to a TON of assholes online who constantly spam and talk shit, etc. Then once they've been labeled; they go and create another I.D. and it continues. I think that would improve greatly if you couldn't make as many accounts as you wanted, because just about all rankwhores, quitters, and cheaters that have been confronted on Xbox have turned themselves around. BUT, that has nothing to do with the actual Lobby System. That's the PS2 Online Account System. The Lobby is cool.
The Friend's List on Xbox is cool, too. I like seeing who's on and inviting them to play. BUT, if Xbox had a Lobby, you wouldn't need to send invites to your friends. You could communicate in the Lobby and set things up. True, you can see what your friend's are doing while either of you are busy playing (even another game); but for the purposes of MK; I don't think that fact trumps the Lobby.
If they somehow combined the two, that would be ideal. That way you'd have the Lobby (with 1 account each to limit bullshit) where we could all talk, but you'd still have your Friend's List where you can who's on while you're playing or send invites to those who are already playing.

Oh, oh the contrary. On the PS2 Lobby, you CAN hide. You just log into a different account and *poof*... you disappear.

i was refering to the whole lobby conecpt, not the fact than u can make new names.

i guess the downside to hiding is that you wont get to fight Bone or Karate . lol .
btw
this thread is pointless .
i hate that you cant communicate on xbox . that is all . ps2 players are on ps2 because they like it better , in vice versa with xbox . who cares !

Yeah, I know. I was just saying...
I would love it if Xbox had a Lobby like that because you'd still only have your one tag. THEN, since they can't hide, certain people would either have to face the music, avoid challenges in public, or buy another account and name it something clever... like it's a "Secret".
haha.. I couldn't resist.

This is just going to be like the other thread. Everyone throwing their biased opinions at eachother.

I'm all for the xbox having a PS2-like lobby then we wouldn't have to listen to MKF's lame stories and lies about him being on. Like what red said NO ONE CAN HIDE!!!

Like Choas pointed out, I think PS2 lobby is just a modified version of Opti-Match.
It is also damn annoying sending messages in the lobby without a keyboard. Why do you even need to talk shit in the lobby anyway?
The bottom-line is this; it is easier for me dealing with XBL setup for MKA than PS2. There's been times that I've plugged into PS2 to make an appointment only to find that the person I'm supposed to be playing is already in a match. That always leaves with one choice - To Wait! Not the case with XBL.
So the way I see it is this, PS2 lobby setup is a waste of time for me. I'd rather have XBL setup.

bottom line for me, I like how Xbox Live is moderated in the sense that you dont have these multiple gamertags and most of all things like gamesharks. I would like to see some changes on Xbox Live is all, a lil bit of that PS stuff would be cool.

Typing in the lobby isn't that bad. They do make controllers with mini-keyboards on them for all you retarded typers, lol. That's why you use abbreviations, acronyms, etc. when you type.

I HAVE to use a keyboard in the Lobby if I'm going to talk. Even if I don't plan on talking, I was want to tell somebody something so I have to unplug my keyboard from my PC and plug it into the PS2.
If I didn't have a USB on my keyboard, it would drive me nuts cuz I can't use the damn controller to type. At least not fast enough to keep up a conversation with anybody.

The lobby is cool for PS2 but that's the only thing I like about it, there are other games where you can chat or then again that's what the mics are for on xbox...BTW, for those people that are ignorant that think you can "hide" when you're on, not really. You see all you have to do is go on the dashboard and see if someone is on or not...
The Friend's List is great, you can keep in touch with friends and join them or if some arrogant asshole bugs ya trying to add ya sending you nasty messages, or people who don't leave you alone because they have no life online, on xbox you can block them. I've had a few occassions where I had to do this on various games, Halo 2, MK etc. Comes in handy, you can also send feedback that does indeed get looked at. BTW, groy you might want to do your homework because you CAN'T "hide" for someone that has xbox you sure know nothing, then again that's usually the case...it's called going on the dashboard and seeing whos on. DUHHHHH...thus you can't hide so once again you're wrong..
PS2 is free, but can make as Trax said a 100 accounts...so in a way this is equivalent to optimatch online because if you don't know who you're playing? Exactly...
KAK can be easily blocked on Xbox, PS2 not so much
I like the fact that in the Motor Kombat mode you can have up to 8 players online race, so you can literally all chat at once in racing mode. But yeah that's a different story.
I enjoy Xbox's online system better overall but yeah I like the Friend's List more.

There isn't a chat room in XBL?!?!?!
Ooooook. But yeah you guys PS2 does have a friends list thing but it's dumb IMO. The only good it does is tell you if your friends are onlineat the moment, but that's about it. I would add the guys I play but I keep forgetting dammit!!!
BONE, KARATE, Dan if you guys are reading this remind me to add you dorks to my list so I don't forget.

How about thisl you could even be in training or arcade while you're logged into XBL. That way you don't wait around. People see you online and the send you an invite. HECK, you could even be playing a completely different game all together and still get notified that someone would like to play you on MKA or any other game for that matter. That's a huge advantage because it saves you time of waiting around.

thats a kool feature but the only thing i hate about it is that it lags me up when ppl send me invites while im still fighting .

i actually like that especially if i'm looking for someone to get on.

So you're saying a little window will appear while you're fighting saying that someone wants to fight you? That sucks for you if it lags you over. That's kinda like when someone challenges me while I'm typing on the keyboard in the lobby it freezes for like two seconds. That shit annoys the hell out of me.

A lil envelope appears in the bottom middle, just enough to notice it. I love you boner but I must say I have never experienced lag over this.

hmm , this feature doesnt make you lag out. It's very very simple and small.

Agreed, I've had 3 invites at once at times never caused me lag.
That's very unusual if it's happening.
