When I first went to the site I wrote a lower age than eighteen and they said I'm to young and then I wrote I'm 25,they said I can enter now. Do you think if you're below eighteen they will allow you to buy it in stores?

It was always bound to happen! Kids will still be able to buy the game if they look older. I always have done and haven't had a problem with buying any MK games.

I put my age (17) on that date thing, and then the site showed up, so I don't see what's the problem with the age, well i bought mkda and gta3 before with no problem, so I don't really care

I'm one of those people in their 20's who can buy whatever they want. So this has no effect on me.

I think more than half of us altered their age to get in there. Like Dmitch said a while ago to me, it had to be for legality issues. The sad part is that I am more mature than half of the 18+ crowd. Also I live in Ne PA, around here no one cares. A 10 year old would be able to purchase the game from EB, so I have no worries.

Maybe but how are you paying for the game? Credit Card? if yes, it is your father or mother that is paying for the game. That is why they don't question your age.

1st off less than half the stores really card for this kind of stuff and if you get carded unless you shop at k-mart they let you buy it at 17. I guess I don't have a problem because I work where I'm buying mine.

ESRB ratings, just like the MPAA ratings and Parental Advisory stickers on CDs are selectively enforced. Sometimes, developers embrace the rating and use it as a gimmick -- Rockstar did this with State of Emergency, relying on hype and the "warning: check ID" sticker.

If a game is expected to sell out quickly in its first shipment, the retailers will likely check ID as not to alienate their older customers who are likely to spend more money more often. They don't want the people with all the cash to lose out on the last copy to a 13 year old kid who only gets to buy one video game a year.

Mortal Kombat Deception, while likely to sell well, probably won't be selling out on its first shipment, so no matter what your age you can probably walk in and buy the game. However, with the recent fuss from the UK towards Manhunt and Rockstar, some stores may be a little more nervous about selling to underage kids. The last thing EBgames or Gamestop needs is one pissed off parent that their little Bobby got his hands on MKD. If it's one of those parents with nothing better to do, the situation could snowball into something ugly.
