| Endprodukt Wrote: remember war gods ? this game sucks alot, but the characters looked really good for this time (except the movement) ! they should try it that way with new technology in the next mk. I don't really like the comic look...it's like "mortal kombat kids" or something and the gore is going lesser and lesser. mk:da fatals remembers me on the mk3 fatals. no details in every way. |
Yeah, they need to make the MK characters look more like real people. The 'comic look' is another thing throwing the MK series off right now.
Hopefully in future MKs, they will make the fighters look much more realistic.

CGI endings would be an excellent edition to Deception. This was one of the few things that MK4/MKGold did correctly. Then again, I can see how rendering the endings in Deception could pose a serious problem for the development team. Has anyone else considered the use of in-game models? As an example, look at what was accomplished with the Metal Gear Solid series. It would be less spectacular, but better than static pictures.

With the inclusion of character-specific fighting styles, they have shown some emphasis on weapons-based fighting. It's sad, characters can simply block a sword or weapon with their arm and take little damage.
Personally, I don't think that one should be able to block weapons with the bare hand. Blocking weapons with your own would be much more realistic and add more strategy in fights.
As Thelonious-Monk has stated earlier, the blocking system is in serious need of an improvement. All characters simply move a forearm or weapon across their body and all attacks, high, or otherwise, or blocked. There should be various animations for blocks, whether they be high, mid or even low.
Only few characters have reversals in Deadly Alliance. This would seriously help with these issues, as well. Most all weapons-based fighting games have some kind of a parry/reversal/counter-attack system and Mortal Kombat is in dire need of an improvement.
I'm not asking to shift more focus to weapons,
Mortal Kombat has always been about hand-to-hand fighting and special moves and it should always remain this way.. But then again, as more elements are slowly worked into the system, some things are going to have to make an effort to incorporate them as well.
~~
With the inclusion of the larger levels in Deception, I'm both anxious and worried. I'm sure that everyone on the site has a friend or foe who plays fighting games with the "Chase" style. Several people I know simply run until time expires or wait for you to come to them. Especially with Death Traps, this may become a larger conflict... I'm hoping for a slightly faster and more refined experience so that keeping together with someone proves easier.
~~
Those are my thoughts for now, I'm sure to have more as I see more posts and more activity among the thread.

I have faith in Midway that they can come up with some killer FMV endings!
As far as more realism goes:
Blood needs to always drip down in MKD. In MKDA, when a character was on thr ground, their blood would move from their head to their feet. I think I may have posted this already, however, it's really been on my mind recently, in addition to many other ideas.
