Gentlemen, ladies, MK fans across the world, I present to you the Mortal Kombat Deception Realism Thread.

A thread based on all and every realistic effect that every MK fan has ever wished for, has ever wanted, has ever strived for to show up in a Mortal Kombat game.

Let us therefore put our minds, our thoughts, our ideas together, and form a collection, a collaboration, a smorgusboard of wondrous, and realistic ideas deemed only fit for a great and epic videogame series such as MK!

I will begin with the utmost of utmosts:

Full-Motion Video endings for all MK characters (including hidden).
When you beat the game, you expect to get something good, correct? When I would beat MKDA, even on MAX difficulty, my reward would be a simple, seemingly RUSHED ending of text and static pictures.

This was my reward? I expected to see a live-action video that told of my character's fate in a much more colorful and vibrant way than pictures and text could ever.

If they think we wanted pictures and text, perhaps they should have included an MK comic book or two with MKDA.
--

Much more detailed and animated gore!
This is MK. This is MK in the next generation of gaming! MK needs to up their intensity and detail in the area of gore.

I'm not talking about Al Gore, I'm talking about distinguished guts inside a character's body!

Mortal Kombat Deception needs to have intestinal tracks, stomachs, veins, arteries, livers, brain tissues, brain networking, all of the things that one would see if they were to cut themselves open.

And not only that! Once a fatality is performed, the organs should still be functioning, and still producing AND secreting juices, once ripped from the victim's body.

It will be two features such as these that make MKD and future MKs much more realistic and popular.
--

I'm sure there are many of you out there that have many more high-detail, high-quality, in-depth ideas of REALISM, such as these.

Please pour out your hearts and thoughts.

I like your more gore idea but I am happy with the blood effects now although those ideas would be pretty crazy.

I agree with the organ part.. the "chuncks" they use now just don't seem to fit confused
but I would also love FMV endings (but I think it will be in there grin)

Aren't FMV endings expensive to do? If MKD has excess in the budget then let them do FMV endings as long as it won't delay the game. Otherwise focus on the game cuz there is nothing wrong with the MKDA endings, I liked them but more pretty pics please.

I agree with the realistic blood and gore. What I hate is when you perform a fatality on a cyborg or on a non-human and they have things they shouldn't have like a skeleton, red blood and organs.

The blood in MKDA rocked but it could be vastly improved.

you're one sick puppy you know that?

but I do agree that if a character is split in half through the torso then you should be able to see guts. (nasty)

It would be sweet if peoples' guts actually spilled out in a realistic fashion. Also the live action endings ( with actors not just fmv) would rock.

Live action endings? What pot are you smokin? This is a game, with graphics. Not a weird ... movie or something. To have a graphics game, and then live action endings, would just be cheesy crap.

I think there should be graphically animated endings. Or static endings. They both work.

And I agree -- the bodies should be built from the inside out to have realistic organs, veins, skeletal structure, and what not. It would make everything really cool.

I would like to see the BLOCKING program tweaked a little. I was a little bored with the blocking in DA (if you held down block your charcater would just hold their forearm up) In deception i'd like it if your character would do some wax on wax off stuff automatically meaning: move their forearms in accordance to high body attacks to the head, and low body blows to the waist or chest. Alternately you'd have to hold block and down to protect against sweeps and such.

However, the most important element in terms of blocking is a new weapons blocking system. I'd like to see a little more interaction with the blocking with weapons, like if you are going to get impaled and your holding block, your character could sidestep around the impaling or knock the implaing sword sideways...as opposed to just holding up sword. just an idea...

I love the idea of incorporating the human anotomy into MK. But i think that may be too much to hope for.......

The most inner anatomy that has been in a MK game was Kung Lao's hat slice in MK2 ... that fatality freakin ruled!

Amen!
That is my favorite fatality of all time. I hope this fatality shows up several times more in future MKs in different forms!

As for more realism:

Weather Effects

Rain:
Has any one played MGS2? The rain effects on the outside of the Tanker level were pretty amazing. The rain would change direction and would blow in the direction of the wind, etc. The character (Snake) would even move a little slower in the rain.

Now those are some realistic weather effects that you can hang your hat on.

It would be nice to see rain levels with rain and wind that moves in different directions. Also, it would be neat if rain puddles formed as the battle went on, and the fighters would splash up water droplets and the like when they walked/fell/ran through them.

Snow:
When characters are battling in a level that has snow falling, a light snow should build up on the fighters as the battle goes on. Also, tracks from the fighters should appear in the snow, and slowly be covered with more snow.

When fighting in cold levels, fighters breath should be visible, just like YOUR breath is visible when it's cold outside.

Wind:
The loose, hanging features of characters' clothing should flow with the direction of the wind. This includes hair, garment ties, bandanas, wrinkles in clothing, etc. Also, it would be neat if wind slowed players down as they were fighting. Perhaps a little.

Mud:
If a level becomes muddy because of rain (weather should randomize throughout different levels), the mud should splash about and cling to characters' clothing where it splashes (boots, garments, etc).

That's it for now. I'll try to keep the sizes of these posts to a somewhat reasonable size.

I have many more good ideas where those came from! Perhaps I could have some creative and positive input and feedback from you other MK fans!

those are all good idea's but in addition to all of those it would be sweet that they have a counter attack system so like when some1 is performing a combo on you you have a chance to counter attack that combo (wether a weapon or hand/leg based one) that would be sweet IMO wow

I liked the blood on the ground in MKDA. In rain, that blood should dilute out and wash away. I also think clothes should be bloodstained as well as ripped - both could be incorporated into the same character models as they progressively receive more damage. But I don't think FMV fatalities would work. There would have to be one for every character's fatality against every other character in every arena.

Some great ideas here, I especially like the ones about the weather, that would be awesome. Ripped and bloodstained clothes would be cool too.

And yeah the organs should be improved, for instance in Kano's "rip" fatality, what exactly does he pull out of your body? Your liver? Your kidneys? I still don't know for sure.

They should also improve the reversal system, I think you should be able to reverse weapons (but only if you're holding a weapon yourself). Perhaps they could do it Soul Calibur style and you can 'clash' into each other, sending sparks flying away. That would be cool smile

You're damn right it ruled !! Best Fatality ever !!

I would LOVE to have FMV endings in MK:D , but as far as I know , these are very hard to incorporate in a game so I won't expect them.

I have posted about the gore before. I'm all for it. Remember : gore made MK what it is. We really didn't get a gory game with MK:DA and I personally got tired of so many people making fun of the Fatalities in MK:DA. It kind of broke my heart because MK is my all time favorite fighting game scince day 1 and we need people to look up to it.

Yes -#1 game since day 1
MK used to have real modelz/actorz, so the characterz looked very real. Now, they have 3D modelz which iz less convincing. With MK:DA they stepped it up with more detail in the fighterz. If they can "nail" the blood, gutz,& gore in MK:D, then MK should be back on top of everyone'z list.

In MKDA, the gore was pretty pathetic. The "organs" were too static. They were just clumps of polygons, like I said before. They didn't move around, or pulse at all.

Now, let's think, and think for real.

Think of all of those moving parts inside of you! Think how much they would move around if exposed and brought outside of their 98-degree cage!

Another idea:
When players are attacked close to a wall, blood and/or any other bodily fluids that burst forth from the wound should spatter on the wall and anything on that wall.

No, no. The character endings should be Full-Motion Videos. Anything else we can't take seriously. This is MK, the best fighting game series.

remember war gods ? this game sucks alot, but the characters looked really good for this time (except the movement) !
they should try it that way with new technology in the next mk. I don't really like the comic look...it's like "mortal kombat kids" or something and the gore is going lesser and lesser. mk:da fatals remembers me on the mk3 fatals. no details in every way.
