Ouch!! God I would have loved for Sonya to be playable. Just so I could kick Baraka's head in for that!! And maybe his MKD ending. (which I hope is false) And yeah the FMV was very well shot. And the pink rings move glow looked cool and extremely powerful! grin Looking forward to seeing more.

Guess Sonya is in the 101st, check the patch on her shoulder.

Are they retconning Sonya being in the special forces? The 101st is an air assault division... Just something pointless I thought I'd point out.

You know, Sonya had that same patch on her regular costume in MKDA. I think she had the Ranger patch over it, too, come to think of it. I was quick to notice that when MKDA came out, because I had just graduated from High School, and had been in Army JROTC from my Sophomore year, all the way up to graduation, and was in Army ROTC at UTSA at my only semester there.

I'm guessing you must be in the Army, not only by that observation, but by your sig and avatar. If so, God bless! I have an uncle who's been called to Active Duty, and he just went back to Afghanistan after coming home on leave, and will be there until February. Not only that, but only a few days ago marked thirteen years since he joined the Army Reserves.

Is it really that patch? It could be anything since the pic is not high quality. If it is, it could be just one of her many achievements. Maybe she trained there and got out sometime later or something like that.

What interests me the most is the way he actually captured her. What will be the story behind her capture? Why would Kahn want her alive? Why not simply kill her since she is a threat to him? Maybe he needs her for something important, or he is simply crazy. And if Kahn did not order her capture, why is she needed alive?

Like Kahn said to Kitana in MK: Annihilation when she said she would rather die that join him:
'A struggling worm on a hook lands a bigger catch than a dead one'.

Kahn would know that Rayden has no power in Outworld. kahn's best chance to beat the Earth warriors would be to take them away form Rayden's influence, ie, lure them to outworld. A good way to do this would be to kidnap one of their friends/comrades so they would come after them without Rayden. Sonya would probably have been easiest to catch out of them all, and thats no doubt why she was taken.
If they killed Sonya, yeah they'd be angry, but they wouldnt be forced to go to Outworld.

Thats my take on why she was captured anyway.

(Also, if the other Earth warriors dont know she has actually been captured, they might assume she has went to Outworld of her own accord to get Kano again, since she seems to be toatlly besotted with him and would do anything to get him. So perhaps they wouldnt initially be as anxious to go after her. Leaving Kahn time to devise plans etc).

That makes sense, but hopefully they will go to something more interesting and original. I still love the “bride” story concept they gave her in the Mk2 comics when she was kidnapped by Kintaro. smile

I'm sorry, but Sonya being knocked out by A LEG SWEEP is just bullshit. Utterly anticlimactic. But hey, as long as we get to see more of her, I can't really complain...

That is something I forgot to add.

It seriously looks stupid. A leg sweep is not strong enough to knock weak any Mk character. Silly if you ask me, but oh well, the wall hit makes up for that awful part.

The bride thing comes from the Malibu comics, not the MK2 comic. However, I think the bride thing would've added more to her story. Oh well, I doubt they'd go for that anyway.

I wouldnt like them to go for the bride thing. Ive never really heard of it and it Seems very strange to me actually confused.

I still think the most logical explaination for her capture was to lure the others to Outworld without Rayden.

In one of the other videos, doesn't Ed Boon say you can rescue Sonya, if you wish. And rescue Kano if you wish? Who's gonna leave them to rot tongue.

The bride story concept used for Sonya in the comics is amazing! I really loved how they planned her capture (credits to Kintaro and Kahn) by luring her to the island and marrying her to Kahn.

Well, at least he tried to marry her in order to break the balance of order in the realms and claim earth as his own because of marrying a “mortal”. Reptile had hypnotized Sonya, but at the end she managed to fight the spell and was rescued by her friends and kicked Kahn in the head for obvious reasons.

Sonya was even dressed like a bride and she was given to Kahn by none other then Kano (that rat, he said nothing would make her happier then know she was given by him), the eye witnesses were a couple of Shadow priests, the evil characters from Mk2 and some others!
