Yeah, you're right about the MK2 Midway comic being retconned. in fact, I was thinking about that when I saw the video. It seems like certain things have been retconning things here and there with the MK2 comic which would make the MK2 comic outdated in terms of correct info on the storyline...

I guess they aren't really going to pay attention to the official comics, especially since those were done by John Tobias.

At E3, the developers told us quite clearly that they did not consider the comic books canon.



If you watch any of the trailers that show the Outworlders escaping from the island via the portal Shang Tsung created, then you'll notice Kano is among the warriors that escapes with the Outworld contingent.

Poor Sonya,smashed against a wall....but that's what you can expect from someone like Baraka...ha.

You can tell Paradox has some some of that silver screen artistic movie direction with the camera panning out to show the tunnel, then the subsequent pink flash reflection from Sonya's fireball on the tunnel walls as Baraka gets his shit ruined. That was brilliant lol. Yay i can finally DL videos now.

You mean all of the MK comics or just the ones from Malibu? If they don't find the official MK comics from Midway canon, that's kind of odd in a way but kind of understandable for the MK2 comic....Oh well...

Oh well, I've always gone by the games-only philosophy. If it ain't in the games, it ain't true. So it means nothing to me.

What a bunch of mixed signals. Either you follow the comic, or you don't. No reason to lie about it until it's too late to change anything. (When you say you're not gong to change the story, then you do, even if it's a mistake, is not not still a lie?) They've outdated the comic..... they know it...... and, yeah, they don't care.

That was awesome! It was funny because the scene perfectly resembled her tough chick attitude; I bet Baraka was giving her the typical “rude-male-sexist” attitude but she simply kicked his ass in the first scene, the way they showed the purple glow was amazing! (Like someone said, “You go girl!”)

I also loved the part where he slammed her in the wall! I wish I could hear her scream. That part rocked! If she isn’t playable I wont care as long as they have many more fmvs scenes like that one of her, and it looks like they will because the producer said he loved what they were doing with her, many things fans will like!

What interests me the most is the way he actually captured her. What will be the story behind her capture? Why would Kahn want her alive? Why not simply kill her since she is a threat to him? Maybe he needs her for something important, or he is simply crazy. And if Kahn did not order her capture, why is she needed alive?

Cant wait to play this game, looks amazing!

I'm pretty sure that the "comic book specialist", after saw first the MK storyline and later the MK2 Comic, he considered that was better to avoid this comic... at least I had done that Midway didn't hire a "MK Comic Specialist" but a "Comic Book Specialist" because many times, the better stories reside in comics from Marvel, DC Comics, etc...

No mixed signals here. Just because the guy was a comic book specialist doesn't mean he was using the comics at all for the continuity. He was going by the games continuity, from MKM:SZ all the way up to MKD. Like I said, they were perfectly clear at E3: Tobias's comics are not considered canon.
