*Ahem* No. I don't think he will. IMO, they're trying to do an MK4 (replacing one character with another character but having the same moves as the first character.) The Female Raiden-type character (I forgot her name) will be his "replacement", but, like all replacements, they won't last. And, once again, I fear that the "mortal" kombat will continue later on with Raiden coming back, one way or another... like Liu. Thoughts?
Fatality.

I must admit, even though I love the thunder god to death, it probably is his time to go. Scorpion always gets a bad rep for being stale, but I can't say Raiden has broken any barriers since MK2. If Raiden is to go down, this is the way I would want him to do it... like Vegita.

Yet it's going to be difficult. I remember when I was seven years old, the reason I started playing MK wasn't because of the blood or the violence. It was because of the guy with the cool hat.

If he is dead, and not just mortal, I think we'll see him again in MK7 one way or another. If not, RIP to my former favorite character. sad

Like Vegita, which of his death? (by the hands of Freeza was my favorite) but I presume you are talking about his sacrifice against bu. It's a good way to go thought. I think it's good to know that Raiden sacrified hisself, it boots the purpose and the will of Raiden for the earthrealm. Finally some action from him. I now have more respect for him than I used too.

I think he's dead because, well, didn't he become mortal in another game? Maybe I'm just imagining it. Anyway, Raiden's always been "mortal", in that he could be killed. A mortal god, so to speak. If he became human... he wouldn't be God of Thunder, now, would he? Fatality.

Like HoodedGansta said, it only happened in the MKA movie and it doesn't count. Raiden is a god that took human body. Meaning that if his body is killed, he can take another body as a new host. If you check MK1 bio's you'll see what I'm talking about.
Now that makes me wonder again about his new released bio. lol The things is that raiden probably gave his immortality.

ROTF hahahahahahahahahahahah, wanderer read the post above mines LOL. that shit was hilarious oh shit i never heard such a funny thing and the person sounded serious as hell.

Yes vigita is a new MK character LOL. WhaT??? you never heard of him, he has a move called spirit bomb that wipes out himself and the whole world. yup just like SMOKEs MK3 fatality where he blows the world.
Vegita is by far the greatest MK fighter in history and is the sub boss for this game and also the hidden boss from mk1,2,3,4,MKDA, and MK myths and MK special forces. Hell i even seen him by your moms house earlyier today.

WOW vegita is EVERYWHERE, that man been around the block a couple of times, hell a couple is an understatement!!!!!

Nah man i am just playing, Vegita is a DRAGON BALL Z character i am sure you heard of that cartoon Dragon ball z right??? well BTW raiden IS DEAD WHOEVER SAID HE WASNT!!!! he spirit bombed the damn place thinking it would kill the DK and the final fanstay 10 term, the DK was IMMUNE to its effects and raiden dyed for nothing.
what a fucking idiot raiden is, but thats complaint number 3 that i have about this game. because Raiden was supposed to die by the deadly alliance and i wanted to see that fight scene that is now gone. it also makes Quan chi look badass even more, cause we all know quan chi is the strongest MK fighter in history, because he took down khan lui kang and was suppose to take down raiden also, and he also took care of shinnok. damn quan chi kicks ass PERIOD and raiden needs to die by them not by some damn spirit bomb!!!

Well until Ed Boon or a 2nd bio says he gave up his immortality than I'm afraid he's dead. And losing his immortality is just a stretch for the hopeful fans that don't want to see him go.

I don't know why everyone is getting so upset about him dying, he'll be back, and he's playable in Deception, YES YOU CAN BE DEAD AND PLAYABLE, Ed Boon even said that some characters won't have endings, i.e. won't affect the storyline.

Fear not he's not gone forever, just sitting out for the story this time around.

dead or not, making him mortal is just the first step to making him killable.

Most likely Ashrah will be a Raiden replacement like so many other characters in the past, but the majority of fans will say 'F*ck that, how dare they try to change Mortal Kombat' (i.e. Jarek for Kano, but that probably was a good thing)

Either way, I don't really care... nobody dies in Mortal Kombat, at least not permanately. DA had Liu Kang die, and that was good because it was a bit of a shock. Doing the same thing in the very next game (not to mention bringing Liu back) just destroys the shock value. Of course, Liu was ambushed while Raiden sacrifices himself... still, they'll eventually bring him back

I don't think we've seen the last of Raiden. Not by a longshot. Being a deity and likely NOT having gone to the Netherealm, I think he'll return by way of another mortal's body. If that's the case, my best guess would be using Kung Lao's body as a host for his return. If not, then maybe a dead mortal's corpse.

Raiden is not dead. He has a bio for Deception. It's on IGN. They don't make bios for dead people.

Well, i think we can say Raiden is dead.

So i think you are wrong TemperaryUserName.
But only time will tell us what is real and what is not. And the world of games are fully of surprises.wink

The reason to this lies on the IGN explanation of the Bios they're putting online.

They say:

"And so, your friends here at IGN have teamed up with Midway to bring you an ongoing profile series dedicated to the cast of what can only be described as the biggest Mortal Kombat title yet. Officially designatedThe Kombatants of MK: Deception, our irregular collection of profiles will not only tell you what fighters you can expect to see in the next iteration of Midway's competitive slugger, but also, the history of that character and how they came to be in the first place."

So I assume, and it's possibly a question of interpretation, that IGN will only post the Kombatants and not characters simply. AS they stated "Officially designated The Kombatants of MK: Deception, our irregular collection of profiles will not only tell you what fighters you can expect to see in the next iteration of Midway's competitive slugger" and i think this sentence tell us that they0'll bring only the kombatants.

Yhat's my opinion and sure it's an interpretation.

Raiden isn't dead. I have been told that the godly essence he released was his elder god essence, not his full godly essence. In that effect, Raiden is still a god and is now back to being a thunder god.

Quan Chi is not the strongest fighter in MK history but more like one of the strongest. He took on Liu by helping Shang. And it was said that Kahn could have defeated them but was too weak. It makes me believe that Kahn could take on them one on one with either sorcerer while weakened. Kahn would definitely slaughter both of them if he was at normal strength
