"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
Q: When is MKD slated to release?
A: October 4, 2004
Q: How many characters are there?
A: There were 24 on the E3 select screen, there are believed to be more however.
Q: Will there be secret characters?
A: Yes. According to Boon & Co., there will be "a torrent" of hidden characters.
Q: How many fatalities-per-character will there be?
A: 2 per character, they will also have they're own character-specific Hari-Kari.
Q: What's a Hari Kari?
A: A reverse fatality, say you are defeated, and it says "Finish Him/Her!", you can input the code for a Hari-Kari before you're opponent can put in they're fatality code. You're character will kill themeselves, depriving you're opponent of the joy of the Fatality.
Q: Are there Stage Fatalities?
A: Yes, as far as I can tell, there is one on every stage. They are also known as Death Traps. Also, they are basically ring outs, so you can use them in any round.
These are the questions that matter most. I'll come up with more later that are more specific. Feel free to post you're own also.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
A: Look closely in certain screenshots, it's very faint, but it's there. In the ones that don't have them, I believe that they haven't touched up on them yet.
Q: Who is Dariou?
A: Dariou was a character that was originally going to show up in Deadly Alliance, but they scrapped him and just put some concept drawings of him in the Krypt. However, now he is confirmed for Deception, there is also a video with him in it.
Q: I think I saw Cyrax in the Fatality video, cracking his own neck? Is he in MKD?
A: That was Hotaru's alternate costume. You can tell by looking at the similarities in the armour.
Q: Where can I find stills of some of the videos?
A: Konqrr has a site with lots of screencaps.
Q: I've heard that MKD has a create-a-character mode. Is that true?
A: Only partially. The Konquest mode allows you to teach a character any fighting styles you come across in the six realms. It is not known at this time if anything else about Shujinko is customizable (such as Fatalities, Hara Kiri and Special Moves).

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
A: That would be Smoke. Some people believe it to be Noob Saibot's alternate.
Q: Why isn't Kung Lao/Kitana/etc. in the game?
A: Don't lose hope yet, they may be in the game, they just aren't confimred, they could also be secret characters.
Thanks to Wanderer for the correction.
A: No, The Dragon King is the end boss. The comparisons to Goro and Kintaro were to establish how large and powerful the Dragon King is.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
Q: I heard that Liu Kang is in the game, I though he was dead?
A: He is, but apparently he is going to be a spirit or zombie in Deception. Hopefully this is his last appearence.
Q: Why are Baraka and Mileena fighting each other in the trailer? A: Probably just for the sake of confirming them, and to show off the graphics. They are listed as allies in the IGN bios.

Are you good enough in MK stuff? prove it!

Cool thread man.
mad4lyf Wrote: Q: Is it online compatible? A: Yes. both XBOX and PS2 versions are playable online, this includes Kombat Chess, Puzzle Fighter, fighting game, and MK1 special edition.

I don't think MK1 is going to be online. After all along with most of the bonus stuff one the CE , it will be on a second disk. Its just going to be a arcade perfect port.

I'll add this to my stickied thread so that you can find it, if and when needed.
Also, add some information on where to find the recent bios and videos, screenshots and trailers.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
A: From what we can gather so far, the Dragon King has been unleashed on Outworld, and it is up to Earthrealm's warriors, old and new, to defeat the Dragon King.
Q: What characters are confirmed to be playable? A: 1) Ashrah 2) Baraka 3) Ben/Kobra 4) Bo' Rai Cho 5) Dairou 6) Darrius 7) Ermac 8) Havik 9) Hotaru 10) Jade 11) Jax 12) Kabal 13) Kenshi 14) Kira 15) Liu Kang 16) Li Mei 17) Mileena 18) Nightwolf 19) Noob Saibot 20) Onaga 21) Raiden 22) Scorpion 23) Shujinko 24) Sindel 25) Skab 26) Smoke 27) Sub-Zero 28) Tanya 29) Dragon King 30) Mid-Boss (Name unknown at this point.)
Q: What are the other game modes?
A: Chess Kombat, Puzzle Kombat, and Konquest.
Q: What is Chess Kombat?
A: It is Chess with a MK twist. There are different classes, similar to regular chess, Sorcerers, grunts, champions, and more. Instead of simply killing the other person on the square, you must face each other in Mortal Kombat, whoever wins, gets the square.
Q: What is Puzzle Fighter?
A: Similar to Puzzle fighter, except that it has MK characters fighting each other. Once the limit has been reached, the player who has gone past the limit's character will be the victim of a cartoonish fatlity.
Q: What is Konquest?
A: Konquest is when you take control of a young warrior named Shujinko and travel to different realms to learn new fighting styles and special moves. At the begining of Konquest, Shujinko will be only in his teens, but at the end, he will be 65 (and look similar to Pai Mei from Kill Bill). After you win Konquest, you unlock you're own version of Shujinko. It is MK's version of create-a-fighter.
A:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we have an elite group of people who find the new news first, by making new threads you are just making re-hashes of old news, we'll have already seen it before, not to mention it cloggs up the forum.

And I have a question for you all, what, in Chess Kombat, does the:
Grunt: ?
Sorceror: ?
Champion: ?
Others??: ?
A: Don't lose hope yet, Kung Lao may be in the game, he just isn't confimred, he could also be a secret character.
Change that to this:
Q: Why isn't Kung Lao/Kitana/etc. in the game?
A: Who knows, but don't lose hope yet, they might eventually be in the game. Possibly as a secret character.
Q: Is it online compatible?
A: Yes. both XBOX and PS2 versions are playable online, this includes Kombat Chess, Puzzle Fighter, fighting game, and MK1 special edition.
Wrong:
Q: Is Deception online compatible?
A: Yes. Kombat (basic fighting), Chess Kombat, an Puzzle Kombat are playable online.
Q: Who are the confirmed characters?
A: There are 10 classic characters returning, 6 returning from Deadly Alliance, and 8 new characters for the starting lineup.
Bad wording and you screwed up the list:
Q: Who are the confirmed characters?
A: There are many rumors floating about, but the most accurate portrayal can be found on Murdoink's character list. Stick with that listing for now, as it is updated accordingly.
Now some of my own:
Q: Which system should I get for Deception? PS2 or Xbox?
A: Tough question, with no correct answer. There are slight differences, yes, but it all depends on what you feel more comfortable with controller wise and system wise.
Q: I heard there are special versions of Deception? Is this true?
A: The Xbox has something called "Kollector's Edition" and the Playstation 2 has something called the "Premium Pack."
Q: What makes them so special?
A:
::An arcade-perfect, playable of the original Mortal Kombat videogame.
::Over 40 minutes of bonus DVD video content featuring a "History of Mortal Kombat" movie that chronicles the origins of the franchise through the release of Mortal Kombat: Deception.
::Exclusive biographical videos for 25 characters in the game.
::A serialized, embossed metal Kollector's Card created exclusively for the Limited Edition sets; there will be five unique cards in total (each of a different MK character), corresponding to the respective packaging.
Q: Do the special versions have different packaging?
A: Yes, for Xbox, you can choose from either Scorpion, Mileena, Raiden, and Baraka. For PS2, you can only have Sub-Zero.
Q: Where can I get the special versions with my choice of character?
A: Excluding the PS2 Sub-Zero version which is available everywhere. It is as follows:
- Scorpion's package can be obtained at EBGames.
- Baraka's package can be obtained at Gamestop.
- Raiden's package can be obtained at Wal-Mart.
- Mileena's package can be obtained at Toys 'R Us and GameCrazy.
Q: Does the actual game differ or have anything added in the special versions?
A: No.
Q: I heard every character will appear in the game! Is this true?
A: Sort of. Every character will make an appearance of some sort in Konquest mode. You cannot play as everyone.
Q: I saw characters in the Prison stage! Are they playable?
A: Unconfirmed. Only Jade is playable at the moment. The other prisoners include Drahmin, Fujin, Hsu Hao, Jarek, Kitana, Reiko, and Stryker.
Q: I saw Shang Tsung from MKII in one of the backgrounds in an image!
A: Yes, that would be Shang Tsung. However, it is unknown if he is playable.
I'll add more later. Server's under heavy load.

A: These are power up spots. You want to obtain them first. You don't want your opponent to control both because this will give them a upper edge. You atleast want one of them.
Q: I heard that the sub boss is a Chimera?
A: We don't know what the sub boss is yet. Many think now that its the new character OGANA. We saw this name on Midways Site where it had a code written. But the Chimera thing is just a huge rumor Midway never confirmed it.
Q: Why is Kitana in Jail?
A: So far we heard that she was captured and held by the DK. In the recent Trailer 3 we saw her in a cell. Now in Mileenas BIO it said that she had become Kitanas Succesor by Impostering her sister and mislead her military forces to leave open a chance for the DK.
Q: Can Fatalities and Death Traps be done in Chess Kombat?
A: In yesterdays interview it said yes it would be possible to do so.
Q: Is The Dragon King Reptile?
A: Ahh The biggest question of them all no one knows. Boon and them said it was in the beginning. But the DK was around long before Reptile. It's believe that he used Reptiles body to return to his formal state but no one knows really if he is yet.

YingYeung Wrote: Plz answer What, in Chess Kombat, does the: Grunt: ? Sorceror: ? Champion: ? Others??: ?
Grunt=Pawn
Sorcerer is a guy that casts spells that help you're people/weaken you're opponents.
Champion is you're most powerful fighter.
Can't remember others.
Q: I saw Jade and Tanya both fighting with the Sun-Bin fighting style, what's up with that? A: It was probably just a test run, just to see how it would look on each character, they would then choose who they liked better with it and give it to her. It also had Scorpian on they're life bar, so it was probably just a test. Q: Are animalties, brutalities, friendships, etc. be in the game? A: As far as we can tell, no. There has been no word on any of them being in the game. Boon hinted at a new kind of finisher similar to friendships however. Though I can't remember the name at the moment.
A: You can find the trailers and screens both at Gamespot and IGN.
You can find the bios only here at IGN.
You can also find info at the Official Mortal Kombat: Deception website here.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
Q: Why is Raiden dark?
A: Raiden summoned all his energy to destroy the DK with a huge blast, but the Dragon King was unaffected by it. Raiden is dark because the blast sapped his powers and charred his clothes.
Q: I saw a guy that was blue and maroon colored with a hood over his head in a screen shot. Is this Sektor in a grandmaster outfit?
A: No, that would be Scab (or Havik). People also think that this is another one of Noob's alts.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
Zebron Wrote: Sektor should not be listed as a confirmed character; he was never confirmed. A few posters say their "sources" claim Sektor is in, but this should not be considered confirmation. We don't know how accurate these "sources" are or if they really even exist. No Midway employee has ever been quoted as saying that Sektor would be a playable character. And to those who heard that Ed Boon was on G4 TechTV saying that Sektor was in, that story turned out to be false. Boon was never on that show.
OK, I'll change it, sorry about that folks.

Np man. Nice thread.

"Is, uh,...Is your wife a goer, eh? Know whatahmean, know whatahmean, nudge nudge, know whatahmean, say no more?"
A: Nope. It's coming out for only PS2 and X-Box.
Q: Is Reiko the DK, or Shao Khan?
A: NO! Reiko is not the DK, or Shao Khan, so don't post anything about that, if you do, I won't protect you from flamers. (Sorry I just had to get that off my chest)
Q: I saw a screenshot of this big buff black guy, is he Jax's brother or Cyrax's?
A: No, that would be Darrius, completely different realm.
Q: I have been hearing the names Onaga and Havik from certain people, who are they? A: Havik and Onaga are likely to be the names of Skab and the Sub-Boss. Rumors at this point, but that is the most likely scenario. Q: Should I post something that doesn't have to do with Deception if it is REALLY IMPORTANT? A: No, please don't unless you want to get flamed. Post it in the discussion it's supposed to go in.
