This was supposed to have been built from scratch, like MK:DA. Well I didn't see much difference in the trailer. The game engine looks exactly the same as the one used in MK:DA and the graphics still suck when compared to games like Soulcalibur 2 or DoA 3. This is not a new MK game, its only MK:DA with more arenas, characters and finishing moves. This game was only created coz MK:DA wasn't even half as good as we expected. In my opinion, MK:DA and MK:Deception could be one PERFECT game together. MK:deception just took everything MK:DA left out and continued its storyline.
Please say it if you disagree with what I posted and explain why.

MK2 is just MK1 with the ideas that had been left out?
MK3/UMK3 is just MK2 with the ideas that had been left out?

Without offending, but I encounter quite stupid this post.

Yes and NO.

The Konquest mode is simply awesome, INCREDIBLE! It was not going to be like that in MKDA.

The Mini games look FUN and Brilliant!

The DEATH Traps (well...maybe not since they look like pits, but this is sure new! It happens DURING the fight).

THE BIG LEVELS.

.....it has so much more....

the graphics suck compared to soul calibur? you're kidding right? just look at the lighting at the screenshot where baraka and subzero are fighting (in the ign scan of psm magazine).

I think these are the best graphics in any fighting game I've ever seen.

MK2 is has much better graphics and animation than MK1, while almost nothing has changed from MK:DA to MK:Deception.
Yes, the lightning effects are great, but when compared to games like Soulcalibur 2, Bloody Roar, Tekken 4 and DoA 3 the character models suck, character movement is not so fluid and even the lightning effects are much better in other games. Also, someone could work on making the blood more realistic, as in some FPS games. I like the huge amounts of blood in MK, but it could be greatly improved.

There are traps during MK:DA fights too, like the Acid-vomiting statues. There should be Death traps (or stage fatalities) but they were left out.
The new Konquest mode is something I'm happy to hear about, although I expected the conquest mode in the last MK game to be like that (like in Tekken Force Mode in Tekken 3).

MK looks better than SC2. Well DoA3's graphics are technically superior, but this game is only on Xbox. On the other hand MK still beats DoA3 in the creative department. MK delivers an unique and believable fantasy world while DoA just copies the real world.

In what IRC chat did you see Boon say he would build on the MK:DA engine to make MK:Deception? I always heard it would start from scratch.
Also, the only thing that was changed from the first MK:DA videos until the actual game was released, were the character's weapons. I remember Shang Tsung originally had a staff. So what makes you think that the game's graphics will change untill its release? Maybe the textures might change, but I don't think the models will be more detailed.

It cannot much change when being based the game with the same graphical motor that the MKDA (just as the Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken 4), and aside we have only seen a small one trailer (of which most of trailer they were FMV scenes) and images of the PSM (that has been able to see the magazine) that some saw clearly that they were still of the beta version.

I too prefer MK is better than Tekken etc, but the graphics could be improved! Also the gameplay could incorporate features from other games that would make it better. The combo system in Tekken is much better than the combo system in MK. I like MK because it is MK! I just like Tekken because of its gameplay, spectacular moves and changes in camera angles during gameplay.
All I'm saying is these features could be incorporated in a MK game without it loosing its MK feel.

I don't mean to flame, but you're an idiot. Bloody Roar....ROFLMAO!!!!!! Just from the fact that you're judging the game itself on a fast-moving, grainy trailer that doesn't even last 1 minutes is hilrious. You do realize there was a choppy frame placed over what real gameplay we did see right? I don't know why they did that, but they did. I haven't seen the PSM pics yet. Also entertainment-wise, MK will always be better than all those games you mentioned. BTW, the DA graphics were on par with the Soul Caliber graphics.

Tekken 4 and Tekken Tag Tournament are not using the same character models. The character models in Tekken 4 are made of much less polygons, but look better because gameplay is faster and the textures used are of much higher quality. Also more emphasis has been given on the backgrounds in Tekken 4.
If what you say about MK:Deception using the same graphics and physics engine as MK:DA is true, then that means we will be getting more or less the same quality of graphics as in MK:DA. Maybe the engines capabilities will be used a bit more, but you shouldn't expect a great improvement.

Ed Boon a while back said that MK6 would use a 50% new fighting engine, and never said a 100% new one. I thought the graphic looked pretty good consider that it is 7 months away from release. Pornbartas you act as though you have seen the final version of the game. Everything that we have all seen is a very veyr early version of the game so it wont look as near of what it will look like. As for as gameplay goes a 50% new fighting engine is considerable. Personality I think that MK: DA is the greatest MK game/ fighting game ever made. Sequels are ment to out do the past installment. Just like MK2 was a inprovement over MK1. UMK3 was the MK that the MK team wanted to release 1st but couldn't do time. MK6 is everything the MK team wanted MK: DA to be

Look, I own both MK:DA and Soulcalibur 2 on the PS2, and I an say for sure that MK:DA's graphics are no match for Soulcalibur 2's graphics. I'm sure that whoever thinks I'm not right has not yet played Soulcalibur 2.

So what if it is? MKD is improving and adding onto what made MKDA a success.

The characters, arenas, Konquest and other things are all being improved upon. You should be happy!

I don't think any fighting game 'copies' the real world. These are games.. many many examples of fictional content reamains in all of them.

MK has been around a lot longer than DoA. I think MK has a thing of its own.. games like Tekken, DoA, and Virtua Fighter are based on strict hand to hand combat. MK has all sorts of elements that make it MK. Soul Calibur is an excellent game graphically and gameplay wise.. and IMO - MK: Deception only has to beat Soul Calibur 2 and I'm pretty sure it will.

I just hope Killer Instinct comes back into the picture..
