First, hehe. I'm not all too concerned, as I've never planned on buying an Xbox. But it's probably for the best. No one wants to play a glitchy MK... I mean aside from MK4...

Bull shit. I didn't experience any of the probelms people where talking about. Worked pretty fine for me. I did notice some slight collition detection issues, but nothing to make the game completely unplayable.

Does anyone know, if you download the December update list, and have the Novermber update already on the 360, what happens to Deception? Does the emulation that was originally written get overwritten so you can not play the game at all?

I believe it gets over written. So if you don't update it you could probably play Deception. The probelm is it also affects other games too. just put Halo 2 in yesterday, and was prompted to update the software. So if you don't update it you won't be able to play other backwards compatible games online.
[edit]: I just checked the full list of backwards compatible game. It looks like despite the fact MK was taken off the lsit, 5 or so more games where added. Mostly the Tom Clany Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell games. Don't know if maybe it had something to do with the emulation causing a probelm with the MK: Deception.

What a load of crap. Get with it MS.

Now I'm glad I'm waiting for PS3 to come out. When PS2 came out, I had no problems playing my PS1 games on it and what was even better never had to download anything to play the older games.

I'm still kinda mad at how Microsoft was a bit misleading about the XBOX360 being "backwards compatible". It's pretty much common knowledge that it plays certain games, like Halo, Halo 2, and any other killer app, but I feel like they could've done actual backwards compatibility, like what the PS3 and even Nintendo's Revolution are gonna do. XBOX360 was, yes, a bit of a rushed system, but that doesn't make it a bad one. The PS2 had a bunch of glitches when it first came out and subsequent releases got rid of these problems. I think that'll be the same with the XBOX360... I just hope they release a "safer" version, 'cause I lost two discs to my friend's system, leading me to dub thee "XBOX: Destorying of Discs!" Oh well. Patience always pays off.

Thanks for the reply KABAL20. I was a bit disappointed not only with the "Deception" emulation, but also with the list itself. December's update only has 6 "Tom Clancy" titles added and an update for "Jade Empire: Special Edition." I hope Microsoft gets a little more agressive with compatibility issues not only for older titles, but for newly and recently released ones as well; (the ones that are not specifically released for the XBOX 360).

I found it interesting as a side note, according to several articles:
--The Japanese release of the XBOX 360 was all the full version (they didn't bother with the "Core Only" scam).
--The price was reported as low as 37'900 yen ($314.42) and as high as 39'795 yen ($331.00)--full system.
--The release was called "lukewarm" at best, with stores reporting extra stock inventory.
