Think of how good they could make a game now . I mean you could have a billion characters and a thousand fatals and a lot of free room for other things in the game . All this other bull 3d environment weapons and funk like that is kool but not mk . Just take it back to the old school and leave the 3d games to Tekken and of the such . Well that is about it for now . Peace out

it would be cool to see them make a side game like that, but not MK6. MK can never go backwards. If it does, it will die. Maybe they could call it Mortal Kombat 2D and do something like that.

Actually, if there's anything MK is, is 3D. Street Fighter, KOF, etc, those are classic 2D games, and their gaming engines work better on 2D, but MK's just waay better in 3D.

I disagree it was not really 3d till Mk4 and that is a really grabbing at the 3d straw lol . Possibly not mk 6 but for sure some sort of 2d fighter would be a great add on to any new game . Hell look at Panzar Dragoon Orta and when you beat it you get the original Panzar Dragoon . That is really kool . Peace out for now .

Use the same engine ect but use digital characters in a 3D world. I still think that would be way cool.

Yea darkness that would be sweet. Actually it would be cool if they could some way engineer, humans playing each character, like the digi graphics.... It would make the most realistic fighting game... EVER. The only way to top it would be to have halograms or projections. But it's not gonna happen yet... sadly.

Great Ideas guys I wonder what exactly they are going to do with MK6 . I hope at least they have the uppercuts , reverse kicks to the back of the head , pits , and multi fatals in MK6 .

thats a good idea just use that scan technology on actual people to get textures....but either way...the mk:da graphics are just fine with me
3D all the way, but they could make the characters look more realistyc. Maybe like the wrestling games, but better.

The mk:da grphics looks great, but I think they should get a little bit away from the plastic look. It was sorta interesting but it did sorta look like there were plastic action figures on screen, not that's that bad, but I think they could do better. Scanned humans would just be the shit.
in my opinion, the most interesting thing about the characters in Mortal Kombat is not their realism, but lack thereof. While MK1-UMK3 did a fantastic job creating digital representations of human actors, and even claymation technique, the originality of the characters was seriously lacking (re: color-swapped characters all over the place). With the marvel that is 3D technology, character can be "built, almost as if with Legos. This gives artists and developers and infinite number of options to play around with. Even digitally scanning a human would not make the characters "look" better... the limitations are currently imposed by the hardware the game runs on (XBox, PS2, Cube, GBA). Interestingly, The Matrix has been known for its technological accomplishments, and the next two movies are no exception. Agent Smith will be the first "digital human" in a movie. That is, he is a human actor "digitally scanned" and replicated hundreds of times (for a clone fight scene). This was very expensive to do, and required high-end hardware. This would be perfect for MK when the price is right. As for now, the artists are able to "paint" better textures than they could scan/photograph. And they do a darn good job.

As far as I know, digitalizing characters is either impossible to do in 3D or would suck, as it would be pasting the skin on top of the structure model. About 2D, it's impossible for MK6 (as they have said it will have MKDA's engine), and it would be stupid for any other MK series' game, after going (well) through 3D. What I think is a possibility is for them to make a 3D game (maybe they could even make it for MK6), and include a demo on a 2D spin-off, with only 2 styles, no weapons, high-definition graphics, and focused a little more in Fatalities. That demo would serve for them to see the viability of a Trilogy-like game, focused on Fatalities and Specials, for 128 bits.

bottom line: 2d mk= bad move. mk needs to move forward, not backwards. mk has left the 2d world behind, unlike other fighters. mk is at its best in a 3d envirement.

I'll tell you one thing, if they made MK6 2D, the game better cost aroound $20. I don't know about ya'll, but I wouldn't pay $50 for a 2D game. Hence my point, they won't make any money that way.
They need to keep the fighting engine fresh and go forward not backwards.

I dont really think 2d is going backwards . I mean a lot of the time all I hear is how MK2 was the best fighting game of all time and it was 2d . Again maybe a bonus cd packed in with the 2d mks on it would be great . I see now that mk6 could never be 2d but something could be done in the 2d area . Peace out for now.

First off, I've never heard of MK2 being called the "best fighting game of all time", but it has been called the best MK. And the reason why that is, not because it was 2D, but the MKs after it.
MK3 was whack, Trilogy was OK, but not up to standards of MK2.

MK6 going back to 2D would be a horrible idea. Thats like saying instead of making more powerful gaming systems, they should go back to making 16 and 32 bit systems.

A bad idea I think not . You have so many games like the VS series that still are in 2d and these are the games that are still going strong in tournaments . Anyone heard of Evolution 2002 if not look into it and you will see what I am talking about . Games that make the jump from 2d - 3d usually fail because they do it wrong . Mk did ok and just ok it is no Tekken Tag though I do not really like Tekken 4 . Though I think it is is in tie for the worst advancement in a video game series with MK:DA . I mean less characters less fatals and no background fatals . Is it because of the space that these 3d graphics need I dont know . This is all just my opinion if you dont like it sorry . Peace out for now .

I agree. They focus so much on the graphics that they take away quite a lot of the gameplay that we like.

May be with advancing techology this can be overriden by the time MK6 is out then?

Yeah the game play is great , but to button masher friendly . I dont even want to hear about if you are really good you can get around that shit . If I am playing as Nintara and I power up then in her second stance do a simple 5 hit it is almost 60 % damage not tell me what that is all about . Peace out for now .

Yeah that is really right now a days in the fighting games . That is really sad that people would say that because they always put a character in a game that is button masher friendly so that the people that can not play games can still enjoy the game . Good idea I guess so everyone can enjoy the game but o well . Peace out for now .
